Well this drama sure looks fun! Not only does Memorials boast an interesting pairing, but it’s got a fun premise, too. Nana, our unemployed heroine, is known for filing an unparalleled amount of civil complaints, and decides to run for office to solve all the problems she’s proudly identified. Opposite her is Park Sung-hoon, costarring as a rule-abiding bureaucrat. I expect them to bump heads, and I can’t wait. These roles are such a fantastic switch from what we’re used to seeing from these actors — Park Sung-hoon was last a scary chaebol serial killer, and Nana? I feel like she has been a serious detective/investigator in every. single. drama. (I would name them, but I know I don’t have to). It’s always great to see a drama bringing new actors into leading roles, and changing up the usual drama recipe, so I’m excited to see what they do here. All the promotional material has been spot-on so far — strong, cohesive, funny, and quite clever — and if I can use even one of those adjectives to describe the drama when it premieres this Wednesday, I’ll be a happy camper.

Ah the drama with 3 titles, Memorials, Into the Ring, and The Ballot lol. This is going to get a bit complicated when searching for this drama online. That being said, looks like it could be a sleeper hit as in Fight your Way vibes. KBS did a segment a week ago, and showed Queen of the Office and Chief Kim as examples of what this show is like (Office Comedy). The lead actor is sorta pulling off that awful coconut haircut lol. I'm intrigued, just hoping for some fun laughter and a nice romance between the 2 leads.

There should be no availability angst. INTO THE RING/MEMORIALS/THE BALLOT should be available on both Kocowa and Viki. It is on Viki’s “Coming Soon” list.
I have so many crime dramas coming up: TRAIN (Viki), FLOWER OF EVIL (Viki), and EXEMPLARY DETECTIVE (Netflix) that I will definitely need something comedic.

The title is weird for me, everytime I think to the memorial monuments that don't fit the story and the humor. When the same word exists in your language but doesn't have the same definition...
It looks fun, so I will try :)

This will be shown in VIKI under the title INTO THE RING- for once Viki has given the show a more appropriate title (Memorials?)
I will watch. While it is not the same story I will hope that it can give us as many laughs as MY FELLOW CITIZENS. And it could do even better given that it has a lighter premise to start with. We need good comedies in this time. Mix in a heartfelt romance and it gets even better. I know that these are high expectations but we can always hope.

Viki is releasing it only in August in my region! Sigh. In a way it's good, because by then I'll get the pulse of the DB crowd on the show, and won't get burned hopefully.

It sounds like a lot of fun. But my patience is being tested- Viki has only subtitled about 23% of the first episode so far.

This is one of those dramas which initially wasn't on my radar but I'm now excited to watch. The premise is interesting and show seems really fun =D

I think I'm missing some cultural context, but what is the word "Memorials" supposed to refer to?
I'm getting some City Hall type vibes here. Generally, it looks like fun, and definitely seems like it'll be worth a shot!

The link below may be offering a too broad a brush but if you are in the US this is a nice short description from the Congressional Research Service on the various methods of communicating with the House of Representatives and Senate.
One form is by “Memorial”. ITR deals with politics on a very local level but a main theme seems citizen interaction with local government for redress.

I have never seen any of these actors in anything, but the premise of this show sounds like fun. So maybe I will tune in, if my everlasting roller-coaster-Life allows me 😅😅😅

First episode is surprisingly good for me. It doesn’t look like a KBS drama. I will definitely check out upcoming episodes.

I'm glad to see this show being recapped on here! The multiple titles lol aside, this show has been very under the radar. Liked the first episode, PSH and Nana's chemistry is really good both on and offscreen. Ooh, does this look like a tvN drama since you said it doesn't look a KBS drama? WTCM was the best looking KBS drama (Studio Dragon was on it so no wonder)!

It gave me the cable drama vibe and maybe because it was over an hour. I never got used to watching dramas split into 2 parts that is why I dropped a lot of big 3 (SBS, KBS and MBC) dramas before.

The split does nothing to the story though. It's just a cut in the middle, and they continue from the cut after ad-time 😅.

😆 I don’t know why I never got used to it. KOCAWA does not automatically play the next episode when it is cast on the TV and it annoys me when I have to stop what I’m doing and play the next episode 😂 #excuses

Thanks for answering! The director of this drama did Justice which I heard was more dark and grim, very 180 tonal wise here. On Viki, the episode isn't split in half so its just 1 episode which I like. Not really into the Dutch tilt though going on/fisheye closeups they had though. However, the teasers that I show of this show drew me in so I'm hopeful that's going to show as it progresses.

I thought it didn't look like a KBS drama at all also.
It has JTBC/tvN vibes...
I had absolutely no expectations but the first episode was pretty good actually.
Hospital playlist and Mystic pop-up bar are gone from Wed-Thurs time slot, so I'm happy to have this drama.

It does have the potential of replacing my midweek drama now that Oh My Baby is ending too. I’m keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that this drama continues to be good.

Oh My Baby and Kkondae Intern, I wasn't completely sold but yeah they are gone too now.
New Wed-Thurs drama, JTBC Was it love? MBC United Effort to Accomplish One Thing, tvN Flower of Evil are going start in July.
I am hoping Into the ring/Memorials will keep it up.
It would be nice to have one or two good dramas in each time slot..
I can't watch everything, there are so many dramas too little time...

There is something about the Viki business model I don’t understand and have mentioned before.
Why is Viki using volunteer subbers to sub MEMORIALS/INTO THE RING when Kocowa is already providing the episodes subbed?
This morning (2 July) in the US at 10:50 am EDT episode one is available fully subbed at Kocowa and 9 percent subbed on Viki.

Its so weird like huh?? Viu already has the episodes fully subtitled. It's not even a Viki exclusive either so I'm not sure why this show is being subbed? Very weird choice.
If I recall, the red/white header image is the voting ballot thing when people go to vote in SK. So they are recreating that lol. I saw the behind the scenes clips of the poster making and it was adorable. I'm glad the chemistry they've in real life shows through in the show!!
