Drama viewership ratings for the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1, 2017

Temperature of Love is doing pretty darn well for itself over in the beginning of the week, but admittedly, it has very little competition at the moment. That means that the only drama dominating any of the weekday time slots is Hospital Ship, though Lord knows why. Is it just the Ha Ji-won pull? Who’s legitimately enjoying this show? (I’m seriously not judging, I’m just curious!)

Poor, poor Manhole, though. Not only did it log miserable ratings during its entire run, it turns out that it logged the most miserable ratings ever. Yes, Manhole actually broke a record, but it’s not a good one—since the Big 3 started recording ratings in the 90s, they’ve had no show pull in the kinds of numbers Manhole has. Wamp wamp waaamp.

Age of Youth 2 is at least seeing a decent bump, which is always a nice reward for a good show. But with weekend cable options sparse now that Rescue Me has ended (*sniff*), it’s not too surprising—otherwise, SBS’ weird move with splitting Sister Is Alive into four (4) episodes a day seems to be paying off. I wonder if they’ll continue to be experimental in the future, now that their experiment has paid off so well.

Yes I'm legit curious how Hospital Ship is still reigning. But I guess Koreans really do enjoy medical and slice of life dramas. Given the amount of praise for WYYS, I expected it to crush Hospital Ship so it's really a surprise.

JTBC, let’s split the last 2 episodes of Age of Youth 2 into 8 to bump the ratings if this will guarantee that we get a season 3.

Doooooo eeeeeeet!!
(This broken record is so broken that it is turning into powdery dust)

Yeay for Age of Youth ❤ Hope it will reach 5% next week.

I think the real competiton in Mon-Tues slot will begin when Witch's Courtroom starts. Curious if Temp of Love will stay as the winner or not. It would be nice to see if all three drama are close to each other.

Aside from 20th Century, Mad Dog will also start next week. ❤

I am so glad that manhole is over. Surprisingly I watched the show. I still have no idea why I sat through the torture.
I am glad that age of youth 2 is doing well. But please show us more of JiWon.. I watch it for her.
I also was expecting more ratings for WhileYouWereSleeping. Probably next week the ratings will pick up.

Argon ended this week, and I still see no english subtitle anywhere. Why is that, really?

On another note, I'm happy for Lingerie Girls' Generation and Age of Youth. They're pulling quite good number. Keep it up!!

manhole was disaster. aside from the bad writing, the loyal viewer to the show itself never really ship for the OTPs romance. it's a big no no. if viewer lost interest to the romance in K-drama, it is just recipe for poor rating. and many people think that one of the reason, how ridiculously and unfair it may sound, was the appearance of the female lead, and how her character was portrayed, did not help her with it.

i watched my golden life, and confused with the rating. my father is strange was very good and worth all the highest rating it got. my golden life is okay but not even reach the same standard with MFIS. how come the rating is as much MFIS was ?

In three weeks, Because This Is My First Life will airing. i just hope it will reached 7% as much as Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.

Hahaha, now I can say I've watched the worst ever K-drama (ratings-wise)... I feel accomplished 😁
On the other hand, I am still watching hospital ship, but with this weeks reveals, I might just get sick of it reeeeealy quickly now 😷😴

Where're all those people who said that While You Were Sleeping will easily overtake Hospital Ship? I'm surprised actually, I thought that LJS was the name that could get at least 10% for the first episode of his drama.

Criminal Minds is finally over! I think some fans of the cast may be happier now because their bias can move on to the next project. I wonder where they spent all the money on? How about paying for better writing and directing?

Now that Manhole and Criminal Minds are over, can Uee and Lee Jun Ki gain some weight?

Aside from the gorgeous islands and their gorgeous landscapes. Yes, it is Ha Ji-won.
The stupid plots introducing stupid characters is sinking the drama to the bottom and I'd the ratings be lower than the standards of the writing.
STAAAAAAAHP.

And you mean Manhole has dug itself a hole in the history of ratings? That takes effort. Hopefully a valuable lesson to everyone envolved.

SBS shows had achieved Perfect All Kill in Dramabeans recaps with Temperature of Love and While You Were Sleeping this week. 👏

I get a feeling that next week SBS will slay all channels with its triple 20% at all primetime slots. Another PAK for SBS. 👏

I am watching Hospital Ship...for Ha Ji Won only, I could careless for the OTP. I really do think the ratings are as it is because HJW is a big name and medical dramas tends to do well.

I have enjoyed the first week of While You Were Sleeping (Sandra Bullocks face keeps appearing when I think of the name), hopefully the next few weeks will be on par or more thrilling.

I want to get on the hype train of Age of Youth so bad but just can't get into it. I've tried so many times and dropped it a couple of episodes in. I guess this is a drama that is just not going to work for me.

im one of those who still watching"hospital ship" and totally enjoy it...beside hajiwon, the acting is really good from other leads too and i can feel big chemestry between hajiwon and kang minhyuk despite age gap.pulse the island scenes & family problem is so enjyable. because of the judge in this site i thought im the only one who enjoy it till now but when i checked other dramas sites i found out this drama is number 2 after a chinese drama ( i dont remember drama's name) in dramafever and number one in VIU thailand & hongkong so it means beside korean, many international fans enjoying this drama now. Maybe its not your taste but its suitable to others i guess

I really wish WYWS gets more rating in the coming weeks. It's such a good drama which deserves more praises and more appreciation from people. Although I feel like I am a bad omen for shows since most dramas I liked had lackluster ratings. :D I am skeptical of the rating system though and whether a success of a show depends anymore on TV rating 'is' a question that comes to mind. I feel like maybe older generation tend to stick to TV, while young viewers who have work/study commitment would watch the shows in their free time online, which is more convenient these days..I wish the prime time channels start counting their online rating too maybe...that would show how popular which one is in real.

Can't believe BOTWG pulled in better ratings than Argon! I guess one can criticize NJH all we want for his acting but the boy brings in the audience because that show had terrible writing. I'm surprised CWH doesn't have more appeal since she's so big in Chungmro.

Agree, ratings should count online ones as well, as most young people watch it online at convenient time. I have nothing against HJW, she us popular in Korea but may be it's just me, i tried watching 3 of her shows including 2 she acted with well known popular actors, i had to drop it ~ for HS, i tried 3 episodes, drop it in the middle of 3rd episode ~

Hospital Ship is a very easy watch - despite the life and death situations, there's basically no tension and you know everything will work out. I can see why it's doing ok but WYWS will probably pick up and overtake it soon. HS is frustrating atm because the second leads (two walking cliches basically) are dragging the show down imo so perhaps viewers will get bored and tune into WYWS instead. I'll still be watching both (I'm hanging onto HS bc I really like the main couple, don't care for it generally).

I hope AOY will get another season - JTBC might consider it because the show is quite low budget, the ratings are up this season (4%! yay!) and they could turn it into a franchise for the channel like tvN has done with some of their series. *fingers crossed*

Manhole - Record low ratings, yikes. Uee was on a roll with Marriage Contract , this was a miss.

I am enjoying Suzy in While You Were Sleeping. I have yet to finish a drama she was in, I think this will break that jinx.

Since when did any LJS drama start from 10% . LJS dramas usually always start from 7%(IHYV) or 8%(W). That way when the ratings increase you know the drama is good. Also time and again it has been proved star power has nothing to do with drama ratings plus WYWS was never hyped like UF and the genre too is fantasy as opposed to Hospital ship's more "mainstream" genre.

I think the next episode is when WYWS ratings will hike up. The promotions kicked off literally just weeks before airing (unlike other high budget dramas where it was promoted for months). I don't expect it to pull an MDBC (the ratings doubled on the second week), but I think it'll slowly take over Hospital Ship.

SBS must be worried to see that WYWS didn't rise on day 2. We could have another high profile flop on our hands. Will be very interesting to see if the numbers settle on 6-9%, or fall below 7.

@headsno2: you are a riot! Your Hospital Ship and Manhole comments, too good! I've come to the conclusion that the former is a combination of to each their own and a guilty pleasure drama. Lord knows I've watched and continue to watch some downright awful shows. Sometimes all it takes is that one thing that you identify with to keep you going.

I'm rooting so hard and loud for Temperature of Love. I would love to see that drama make some positive records and keep good numbers even in the face of competition. Heck, if Hospital Ship can pull the numbers they are...

I see her. I know it's not the best series I've seen, but there are a lot worse. It is half culebrón or soup opera. But something is better and has a lot of action and a lot of speed and entertains me. But the mistake is to hire a 20-year-old boy to become a doctor.

Okay I decided to binge watch hospital ship 1-16 the other day, and I'm in love with it. So yeah, some of us are watching and loving it! This is the first medical drama actually worth watching. Ha Ji won and kang min hyuk actually have a really sweet and nuanced romance, and the medical cases of the week help the characters of our doctor cast grow and further the overarching story. The directing is really beautiful and unique and captures small interactions really well, and the dichotomy between the coldness of ha ji won and the warmth of kang min hyuk and their unique struggles as people and as doctors is portrayed really well on screen. Honestly those of you who dislike it : why? Im just curious because I find it so well thought out and really awesome and its separated from those pesky hospital politics . For those haven't seen it I recommend it!

I don't get the Manhole ratings. Over the years, I have tried watching numerous stupid and/or immature dramas, some that literally put me to sleep. Manhole was fairly fast paced and had a story...I'm glad it I watched it all. Cast did a great job!

I'm still watching hospital Ship. There's things about it that drive me crazy, but there's also things I really like about it. Mostly life is busy at the moment and it's nice to have something undemanding and comfortable to watch. I'm also a sucker for noona romance. I don't think min hyuk and ha ji won have amazing passionate chemistry but theres a certain understanding, respect and comfort between their characters that I like - they feel like partners and I can see that lasting. So yes, 'comfortable' may be my verdict for this drama. Just needs to keep the surgery and the annoying ex girlfriend scenes to a minimum and I'm happy...

I enjoy watching Hospital Ship. It's like comfort food. It's really easy and enjoyable to watch. There's drama, but it's not too crazy to the point where it makes me want to pull out my hair. Ha Ji Won's performance is a definite plus. It'll definitely be interesting to see whether While You Were Sleeping's ratings go up next week.

Wow, Sister is Alive's ratings are really fantastic. The last time I saw those kinds of ratings for an SBS weekend drama was years ago.

I'm only watching Age of Youth 2 so I'm happy that ratings have picked up. I thought though that with the online hype and the fact that it's a sequel well done the drama should have broken 5% already. Well, I guess I really don't understand ratings.

All the other dramas either have
1. main actors I'm averse to
2. plots I'm not fond of
3. nothing going on for them (most of the weekend dramas)

Still waiting for Kim Ji-suk...

I'm watching Hospital Ship as well even though I was about to give up a few days ago. I'm still on episode 10 so I'm pretty far behind. Ha Ji Won is the main reason why I'm watching the drama and I don't care about the romance. But I like While You Were Sleeping more than Hospital Ship.

Is it just me or Live Up to Your Name has no fans here.. I only saw comments on how bad Manhole is and all the other dramas.. Is it really that bad LUTYN, dear beanies?
Well, to be honest this drama was in my watch list cz I like medical drama but not very keen on the time travel part of the plot. But once I started, Kim Nam Gil just got himself another fan! hehehahaha~ I find the chemistry between KNG and KAJ was pretty good and Im more of a hugger than kisser so the scripts were really my type. The whole acupuncture and modern medical technologies really make me feel how really good and awesome our ancestors were with their medical skills and limited resources.
I really really enjoyed the drama a lot. I have both mancrush and girlcrush on both the leads. Bro said it was draggy in the middle but I couldn't stop once I started. I finished the whole 16episodes in 3 nights (cz gotta work, if not it would have been just 2 full days)..
I give 2 thumbs up to this. =D
