Kim Dong-joon lines up starring roles in web series and KBS daily drama
by chickachunga
Actor and ZE:A idol member Kim Dong-joon (Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho) has been cast as the lead in two new projects: web drama series Happy Hostage and KBS daily drama I Still Love You.
The screenplay of Happy Hostage (originally titled Mak Cha Jeon) was awarded the grand prize at the 2014 National Institute of North Gyeongsang Province’s Cultural Contents. Kim Dong-joon will play a cunning messenger boy for a private investigative agency named Hong Chan who wasn’t able to join his construction worker older brother Hong Goo on a holiday trip down to their hometown due to work. As a result, Hong Chan takes the last city bus and finds himself entangled in several accidents enroute. Casting for the 12-episode web drama is still in progress at this time, and each episode will have a runtime of 10 minutes. Cameras will start rolling at the end of September.
Meanwhile, the new KBS drama I Still Love You aims to be a family healing drama that centers around a female teacher and a female student who hated each other in school, but end up becoming sister-in-laws and stepsisters seven years later when they unknowingly marry into the same family and their parents remarry each other. Try to wrap your head around that one.
In it, Kim will play an overly optimistic playboy poser named Yoon Soo-ho, who’s a far cry from his accomplished older brother and sister. From a young age, he was always compared to his intelligent older siblings so he never bothered to apply himself academically. He’s a food service worker and takes after his parents’ warmth and perseverance, but so far none of those qualities have manifested. Because of his privileged upbringing, he has no concept of money and no interest in jobs or his future.
Kim’s previous works include the 2012 action movie A Company Man starring So Ji-sub, Mandate of Heaven, and Girl K, and he was most recently seen in Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho as a loan shark minion in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-role. But with these two new projects, he’ll definitely have more screentime.
Web drama Happy Hostage will air both online and on TV at the beginning of next year. KBS’s daily drama I Still Love You will air at the end of October as the followup to Eccentric Family.

My first exposure to him was in Neighborhood lawyer and he was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO adorable in it and is quite a good actor!
His acting never distracted from the great, experienced actors he was surrounded by and he played his part well. Happy to hear he's getting more roles!

If not for the 10 years difference in age, I would say the two of them are identical twin.

OMG, thank you drama lord! Since ZE:A is probably never going to have a comeback, I'm happy he's finally getting some works. What a cutie. He was probably the most known member of ZE:A until Kwanghee, Hyungsik and Siwan took over. Forever known as the male Han Ga-in lol
