KMM is definitely deserving of his Daesang & the response of the public. KMM & SSH have very different levels of acting, KMM is the most amazing actor.

i've admired kim myung min since white tower...& though i do love song seung hon as a star...i must admit i had the same thought as stated above...that the mbc awards had sunken to a new low in 2008...it was all i could do to keep from throwing my peanuts at the tv...it's good to see he's being recognized by the discerning public for what he is...a talented actor & a true gentleman...

it is funny to see so many fangirls wearing glasses...it's quite endearing...i don't have to feel like a lonely four-eye with my thick black rims... O-O

Miae - I agree with you abt KMM in Bad Family - that was the first KMM drama that I saw and I love. in my part of the world its unfortunate that us his fans are not able to enjoy his IMMORTAL YI SOON SHIN (which - i read - made him into a huge Sageuk actor)..sigh...

Anyway, yeah, MBC awards suddenly becomes meaningless... because of the contraversy... as long as everyone knows that its KMM wins it, wonder what does SSH feels... hehe..

I always thought Kim Myung-min was handsome (I really think he could pass as Kim Rae Won's older, grumpier brother), so this doesn't surprise me. When the first photos of Kang-mae of Beethoven Virus came out, I thought the essemble and big hair worked beautifully. I think I was the ONLY one who thought so then. ;)

BV will be marketed as "Nodame for Okasans" (plus anything with Lee Ji Ah is going to get Bae Yong Joon/BOF marketing), and "Kang-mae" could plausibly be marketed as "Korean Colin Firth." Coupled with his lead role in remake of Shiroi Kyoto, he could easily become a big Hallyu star . . .and you might see crowds WAY BIGGER THAN THIS in Japan when he promotes over there.

Thick black rims are popular in South Korea but also in Taiwan and Hong Kong. And of course, black rims (as with anything psuedo-nerd) has been popular among emos and hipsters for almost than 10 years. It's even a fetish now. Ugh. Near-sightedness is not hot people!

goodness, everyone is forgetting his best drama ever!! YI SOON SHIN was off the charts. He was so amazing. Too bad no one is subbing it, because its a period drama...but no doubt his best one.

i am completely in awe when i wacthed him in BV...
he convicingly portrayed the role of a maestro...his manner of speaking, his bearing, his personality...he really made the character out from the book...he did really well in BV.

and what is more suprising is majority of the fans who came are in their early teens or teens...i thought i would see more ajummas in his sign session.

KMM really deserved the recognition for his awesome acting of KangMae, though I was most surprised that many teens fans will there supporting him instead of Ahjumas. So even queing the night before. I also noticed guy fans as well.

KMM created this interesting original character Mastro Kang, that had stormed
the whole country that appeals to young & old.... the famous catch phrase "Dong dong o ri"

It seems surprising, yeah, but Kang-mae mania is this year's Eun-chan. (Also, ajumma riots are primarily a Japanese thing . . .) I actually have friends who's gone gaga over Kang-mae, and I SERIOUSLY thought about getting them the Maestro classical music collection.

For middle age Japanese sensibilities, though, Kang-mae would be a Sex God (sez feelosopher Niponzche -- "what doesn't kill you makes you more romantic!") His combination of tyrannic professionalism, weird eccentricities, love of his dog, and -- yes -- BIG HAIR is Yonsamamania all over again. Sigh, I'm getting all hot and bothered right now! But, yeah, I'd love to see how far BV gets promoted over there.

He is totally BRILLIANT. I've watched him in White Tower, Bad Family and Beethoven Virus and he is really committed to his craft. I'm mesmerized every time I watch him. :D

Love KMM since IYSS and especially White Tower. I've been thinking of a korean pride and prejudice and wondering who could play Mr Darcy and Elizabeth. KMM would be the prefect Mr Darcy and Bae Do na would be great as Elizabeth. What a dream team.
