This whole scene is comedy gold. I couldn’t stop laughing watching everyone throwing Song-hwa a weird combination of fondness and dirty looks. And it’s even funnier since Jeon Mi-do, the actress who played her, is mainly a musical actress until her first drama role in Mother.
I love this soju rendezvous at night. It’s not too impossible to hope that this “one-sided” friendship Yu-ri has cheerfully built with Min-jung will actually turn into a real one, right?
Everybody needs a caring and no-nonsense best friend like Hyun-jung. Her smacking down those nosy moms in verbal showdown was so satisfying to watch. She is such a girl crush. 💕💕
It\’s little moments like these that feed my hope of seeing Min-jung stays with her beloved family by the end of the drama.
I squealed at this unexpected display of sweet and tenderness between Kang-hwa and Min-jung. For a few precious seconds, they seemed to forget the long and sad history that stretched between them. And I want more.
Am I the only one who got teary-eyed at Seo-woo\’s equally quiet gesture of love towards Min-jung? I love these two so much I don\’t want to see this little girl saying goodbye to her mom.
I feel really bad for Yu-ri but straight up, she’s dead. The living has to continue living and sadly, the dead does not. Maybe before she goes, she can help these people who are all hurting learn how to heal. Min-jeong genuinely cares for both Gang-hwa and Seo-woo so I wish she won’t proceed with the divorce.
After savoring it as long as I can, I finally finished the audio drama of Mo Dao Zu Shi today. It’s amazing that even after consuming this story in 3 different medium, the feelings it evoked in me never lessened. If possible, I love it even more now. It was a wild journey and I will certainly miss the subbing team’s unexpected comments and witty notes throughout the eps (suibian subs jjang!!).

I just need to save this on my wall so I can watch this 15 seconds perfection on loop. And because freaking out Kang-hwa is too hilarious and cute not to share with you all. You are welcome. 😉
When I watched this eps, I found these scenes bittersweet to witness, especially contrasted with the tragedy that happened to them not long afterwards. But thinking about it again, I can also see this as a reminder of how beautiful the countless possibilities life offered to us. We never knew what would happen to us later on, but I think planning our future and looking forward to that is part of the art of living a good life.
I hope our lovable characters can heal and finally look back to these flashbacks fondly.
(Why is Jo Kang-hwa\’s eye roll looks so sexy?? 🙈🙈)
Am I the only one who found this scene oddly endearing? It\’s probably the way Yu-ri inserted herself as a part of the family without any hint of jealousy. I wonder what kind of dynamic we\’ll get between these 3 in the future.
i think drama is fairly clear on what it wants to focus on and i am glad that it chose to be that way..
Hi,bye mama = mother and child, and that she will leave for sure.
And i guess she saw how broken her husband was, enough to commit suicide (reason why Yuri’s mom alienated her grand daughter to make sure Yuri’s hubby lives/learns to move on), yuri is just glad to see how new wife came into his life.. pretty sure she saw it from the very beginning..
AND the best part.. step mom seems to be a nice mom.. even the girl likes her.. that’s breaking stereotypes
I actually think the show is less than clear about its focus. Kang-hwa clearly loves her dearly and I think Yu-ri is trying really hard to suppress her emotions for his sake; I think later episodes will allow her love for him to come through. I’m also holding out hope that she manages to stay.
I am happy about the second wife being a good person though and about the daughter genuinely liking and having a good relationship with the second wife. However, I think anybody can see that the marriage is not a good one. She wants a divorce and he’s not emotionally invested. His priorities are really clear (or so it seems to me).
I do agree that KH is and has been in love with Yuri. Maybe step mom always had a crush on KH and married him because somewhere down the line KH realized baby needed a woman in house..
I am so conflicted… one true love is great but i want KH to understand step mom’s role and contribution… and i hope she genuinely loves her step child.. this new couple should learn to lean on each other.. and if yuri is not staying , i don’t want her rocking little girl’s boat where she is so comfortable with stepmom
Oh, I agree 100% with Kang-hwa learning to be grateful for Min-jung. However, I can’t help but regard Min-jung as an “enemy”, even though she hasn’t done anything wrong so far. I guess I’m just too partisan LOL. However, if Yu-ri really isn’t staying, then I agree that she shouldn’t make things even harder on Kang-hwa and she shouldn’t mess with Seo-woo.
I actually think all of the scenes where she was a ghost watching as a spectator were really sad. I think she loves him as much as he loves her and doesn’t want him to suffer (she knows how much pain he’s in), hence why her focus as a ghost was on her daughter. There are also some under-currents of jealousy (e.g. when she was watching her parents return from the temple ceremony and while she was watching them pick up Seo-woo from daycare), which I actually like because it shows there’s a chance for these two.
One thing I do like, though, is that as much as she loves him (and I think she loves him a lot), her love for her daughter is stronger. To me, this is realistic. When I was growing up, my mom always told me, my brother, and my cousins that we would learn what it was like to truly and unconditionally love another person when we had children of our own. I haven’t had children yet, but I do see it in people whom I’ve known before they had children.
It\’s really not fair that he can look this cute when he was completely lost about this whole Yuri-is-alive situation.
Then he effortlessly broke my heart in the next scene. The way he swallowed his conflicting emotion in front of her, and how his eyes were practically shooting hearts at her. It\’s just… awww
Another compilation of silly and hilarious, yet slightly annoying Jo Kang-hwa to accompany me waiting for the next eps to both break and heal my heart.

Because I need silly, hilarious, and slightly annoying Jo Kang-hwa on my wall to prepare myself before he broke my heart again this weekend.

I loved his face in the second anniversary when he says “I’m sorry” and she asks “what are you sorry for” and he just doesn’t know. Awwwwwwwwwwwww.
Our poor hearts…
Min-jung seems like a perfectly nice and cool person. I like the way she stood up for her daughter and herself, and refused to engage with these gossipy, nosy mothers.
Yes unlike others I’m thinking she is completely fine and not evil or anything. I remember how this writer made every character in GBC likeabale despite their flaws and she’s also nice with Seo woo. Though she is clearly not happy in her marriage and that shows because GH isn’t over Yu ri either.
Since we’ve been shown that she is close to Seo-woo and clearly loves the little girl, I also firmly believe that she is a good person, if sometimes a bit too blunt about her opinion (which, actually, I really like). She is clearly unhappy about her marriage, and I suspect Seo-woo is probably her biggest reason for hesitating about asking for a divorce.
Yes I guess she hesitates because of Seo woo. She’s like a sweet aunt to her rather than a mother figure. But I can somewhat predict where this show would go and i don’t think the divorce will happen.
I did like her a lot in this scene.
She just cares for the SEoWoo, and given the fact the we haven’t (yet) been told how GH and her met and decide to get married, and that we haven’t seen a moment in which GH addresses her in a warm way, I think that maybe she was the one taking care of SeoWoo and maybe the two of them decided to marry for the little girl and maybe feeling less lonely, although it is too soon to tell.
This freaking hurts. The first time we saw it, I felt so bad for Gang-hwa because he was all alone and trying to survive for his daughter. After this epilogue, it hurts even more to see Yu-ri trying to comfort her husband but can’t really do anything about his pain (plus knowing she’s part of why he’s in pain) Omg I cannot do this anymore.
For a premiere eps that employed so many onion-cutting ninjas, this has the cutest opening montages. I was hooked within the first 5 minutes, and bawled my eyes out not long afterwards. And Cha Yu-ri’s adorable marriage proposal is definitely going up there in my fave list.
