I've been watching every episode twice, precisely because I can't resist watching the raws...I just watch them, understand the 30% or so that I can, and then re-watch with subs later. Pathetic, but unavoidable! :D

What I love is how I no matter how i watched the raws of SG, then go to dramabeans to read the recap then watch it again with subs, I never get bored. haah I can watch it all over again and again. Aww SG was a good show, and I better get a happy ending, someone should slap hyun bins mom (that too is apart of the happy ending) and even though some people didn't see the reason for the souls swap, I think its purpose was to bring them closer together and let them understand life from each others perspective. This drama was purely about relationship and how it's complicated and bitter sweet. heheh BUT LOVE is powerful enough to change anything. Gosh this is what i get for being a devout watcher of fairly tales.

Waiting for the ending, but am also preparing for major withdrawals. I hadn't had it this bad in a looong time. I'm going to miss JoWon, RaIm, JoWonda, RaHim, Oska and Seul so much. Yes even Seul. I actually didn't find her to be too bad after all.

January 14, 2011 at 7:06 AM
What do you think of that site and its fast subtitle releases? (for example, My Princess ep 4 English sub was release about 18 hours after its Korean airing).
And its unique fan translating & fan editing software?

I watched the first two episodes of My Princess with the DarkSmurf subs and then when WITHS2 subs were released I read through to compare them.
There is a lot of key dialog missing or mistranslated in the DarkSmurf subs compared to WITHS2. Although the general events of the drama are clear the more complex details are not very clear......

I feel like you miss the more subtle stuff with the machine translated subs, so if like me you need to know exactly what they said, it isn't enough.
Then again, if you're in the habit of watching it raw and watching it again with WITHS2 subs, then watching it with the Darksmurf subs is an improvement on raw!

There was a post that javabean talked about being Korean-American - well not exactly about her, but about the whole growing up with two cultures thing, so I've always thought jb and fri were Korean-American (accents and all), but hey, they could just as easily be Canadian. kaedaejun is either American or Canadian from the way her words are spelled (-ize instead of -ise, that kind of thing), but she also once said her Korean is limited or something like that.... I think kaedejun uses subtitles to do her recap, but that's always been a speculation on my part. Anyways, I can assure you, jb and fri know a lot about the Korean and American culture (or is it pop culture? XD) so we're in good hands. And I'm thankful all the recappers are kind enough to share with us.
P.S. I think thundie is out of this world. XD She has a blog too and her writing is hilariously (to me), I don't know, fancy? dramatic? She could be real Thunder for all we know.

Hope everyone enjoys their Friday...
The guy I'm in love with moved permanently back to Korea two weeks ago, so I'm having a rough time right now...crying a lot. Not sure what to do next, but I know I'll figure it out...
Thank God I have K-Dramas to keep my mind occupied at least part of the time!! ^o^
Am so happy now that I staggered my drama-watching so that I'm beginning My Princess just as Secret Garden is ending...maybe I won't feel bereft after SG as much as I usually do when a drama I like ends!!
My Hyun Bin fascination just continues to grow with every drama he's in...I'm afraid I might die from seeing him in a Marine uniform, but I guess there are worse ways to go, LOL!!
Stay warm & safe on the weekend, everybody!

All I've been thinking about the past week is
Secret Garden!
But then again i guess i could say that SG is all i've really been thinking about for the past month!
I really want to know the ending but at the same time I don't want it to end!
Hoping that writer-nim won't give us blatant fan service or illogical plot for the last 2 episodes!
Please give a good end, writer-nim!
I want to remember SG as a drama with a good ending!
I'm kind of at a loss for words if you were to ask me what i'd watch after sg... because i really don't know.
The past couple of episodes have been so emotionally draining. I think i may actually need a break from dramas for a while to nurse my withdrawal symptoms for SG!
Argh, how will i cope?

Exactly the same problem I've had after SKKS. (and other dramas I liked before that.) I placed my hope on SG & MSOAN to help me survive the withdrawal symptoms, but only SG delivered. And now, SG is about to end, good thing that I find My Princess and Dream High enjoyable. It's just like rebounding from a break-up. ;) Gotta go thru the pain or find someone new. My two cents = not wasted time.
I think there is something that is good for your brain to be exposed to a 2nd language while watching.
I do not speak Korean, so I feel like my brain is on all the time I watch. Picking out words and patterns. Determining if the subs have the best translation, or not, based on what K I do know.
The fact that we get the emotional punches thrown at the same time as the words helps with the learning, too.
That is how we learn our first langauge after all.
Not from books.
annie
January 14, 2011 at 1:52 PM
@ Jomo
I do that too! I have learned enough Korean in the last couple of years that I can follow most of what they're saying, unless it's a drama with a lot of professional jargon, like a law or suspense drama. But I too feel like it's good for the brain, it makes you work a little bit while you're being entertained.
Plus kdrama has opened up a whole new culture to me that I've never had exposure to before, and that's good for the soul. I think dramas contribute to world peace. :)

Happy Friday, all -
I have a sort of mechanical question. Why can't I see all the posts on any given thread? For example, the SG 18 thread says there are 363 comments but I can only see up to page 4 and 181 posts. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Agree, agree, agree about SG ending, HB singing and being crushed about HB going to the Marines. And now we know even his writing is cute. *sigh* he truly is perfect.

Here is my latest Ode to Linen
I used to think Hand Towels were quotidian.
I’d wipe ‘em and leave ‘em all day.
They never had abs, eyelashes or pecs,
Then JavaBeans showed me the way.
Soon after I saw the photos she posted
I watched all 20! of his Summer Scent
As boring as it was (like watching beets roasted)
I liked what I saw - didn’t care what it meant.
I’ve donated my sight to Song Seung-heon
When he’s on screen my eyeballs are glued.
I don’t really care if I have the sound on
Cause he’s one mother sharkin’ hot dude!

Did anything happen after episode 10 in that drama?
I did FF through 18 and 19, but I read all the subtitles.
I couldn't imagine waiting all week for a drama to air and then watching OPSAU happen. I don't know how they kept their audience. The ratings were averaged at 10%.
It could only have been the pretty!

There is another one of the kiss from a different angle where you see that she bounces away like "great! done!"(must be the "one take!") and he stands there looking like a fish smacked him in the face and takes a couple of seconds to "come to". (giggles) I've been looking for it but no luck so far. I love them, too. Watching all these clips makes me think that MNIKSS still stands as # 1.

Judging by the post in here...I am not the only one who is planning to be glued to my laptop for the finale of Secret Garden.
I can't wait for it...soooooooo excited. And after the finale, I will be rewatching it again, this time, just for the fun of the switching, etc.
My Princess is pulling me in there but still not committed to it...probably 2 more episodes to make sure that the plot will not be going ridiculous esp about the inheritance, etc. but I admit, it is funny and light.

SSH being serious = wooden acting = limp, wet hand towel
plus his name sounds like song soo gun which means hand towel/handkerchief.

Guys, I'm really obsessed with My Princess's the evil girl's fish-net nightie....remember the question is how did she manage to get into those so quick? Were they hers or his?
Well, if you look at ep 4 carefully, the scene in the prof's office where they are surrounded by reporters....she's wearing a black slinky fish-netty thing under her coat....which means she wears it ALL THE TIME!!!!! It's hers; it's like a on demand thingy: anytime she feels like you-know-what, easy peasy, just strip off that coat and voila! No more closets!!!!

Happy Friday Everyone! :)
The Kidnappers from Mary Stayed Out All Night and I have established a trusted business relationship. ( only slightly marred by the fact that their secretary, Tae Sul, pawed Siwon's abs, when I hired them to kidnap him)
But, I believe their hearts were in the right place, so, on the last Open Thread I hired them for another job. This time to kidnap The Speedo of no other than Mr Hand Towel himself. I did this purely out of altruistic motives, I only thought of the joy this will afford all the females and maybe some males of Dramaland. I even offered to finance A Fellowship of The Speedo :P
They wrote this back. I am reposting this because how truly epic it is.
The Kidnappers
Madame,
It might be good news to you that you no longer have to put an effort to acquire the Speedo.
Mr. Hand Towel called us for a quick meeting this morning, for which, according to him, we need to discuss an important matter. The entire gang was wondering why the venue had to be his kitchen, and why he had nothing on except a towel wrapped around his waist. So here’s how the meeting transpired…
Our female staff, Tae Seul, dropped to the floor and wept upon sight of Mr. Hand Towel. We had to sedate her, because she kept crying, “Save me! Save me from myself! I don’t want to be demoted any further! I have bills to pay!” While she was high, she kept mumbling, “Towel… Siwon… towel… where’s the Speedo? towel… chocolate… abs… which one?… Siwon… towel… ”
“Speaking of the Speedo…” MHT began, as he checked the temperature of the oven before him, “I caught a rumor that you were being contracted to nick my precious.”
Precious, yes, he calls his Speedo that. Sometimes we confuse that he refers to his [tooooottttt!!!!].
“Sir, that…” we were about to reply. (Yes. We speak to him in unison.)
“… And I heard, it was Viola who offered you the job?” he cut us off and darted us a side-ward glare.
We immediately knelt before him and begged for his forgiveness. “We’re sorry Boss! We told her it can’t be done, but she insists! We couldn’t just brush her off because she’s a repeat and well-paying client.” we cried, to which he chuckled.
And then he gave off a sigh. “Viola…” he spoke, looking at empty space, “so you survived my spell.” At this point, we looked up and we swear, we saw his eyes glisten in a way that isn’t human.
“Boss, you know her?” we asked.
He didn’t answer. He just smiled and opened the oven door and out came his “precious” on a tray. (Turns out, his blow dryer broke down that’s why he was in the kitchen drying up his Speedo in the oven.)
“Get up! All of you!” he ordered us as he extracted the tray from the oven.
As we stood up, we saw that the Speedo was glowing red. A writing that went around the waist glared the words “One pair to rule them all… and in the darkness bind them.” The writings turned into unreadable characters before fading out.
MHT picked the Speedo off the tray like nothing. He turned to one of us and said, “Hold out your hands,” to which our brother complied, only to scream in fear when MHT placed the Speedo on his hands. “Don’t worry, it’s quite cool to the touch,” MHT assured him. And indeed, the Speedo didn’t hurt our brother.
“Take it to Viola,” he ordered us.
“But Boss!” we tried to argue. “This is your precious!”
“If that’s what she wants, then that’s what she gets.” He then sheepishly smiled before he turned away to leave.
We could swear, we heard him laughing out loud from the other room. It gave us the shivers.
The Speedo glistened as we placed it in a protective box.
So, Miss Viola, should you still be interested in having the Speedo, please let us know and we’ll arrange a meeting with you at the soonest possible time to hand it over. It’s quite a burden lugging it around as it goes heavier by the minute. Also, we’re already growing tired of keeping Tae Seul from snatching it away. Not to mention, dodging off constant attempts by mysterious hooded men to acquire the Speedo from us.
Please advise.

“ You offer The Speedo of Power to me freely. I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired this."
* starts glowing* (please, please don’t mistake this for glittering )
"In place of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen! Not dark, but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Treacherous as the sea! Stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me, and despair!"
*stops glowing*
"I pass the test! I will diminish, and go into the West, and remain Viola."
This was the strange premonition I had a few weeks ago. I was stroking a white Persian cat, ( It’s No Min Woo’s cat, Yoda. I “borrowed” her) and speaking to some shadowy figures, in strangely archaic terms about world domination.
At the time it baffled me, but now it makes perfect sense! It was The Speedo all along! Its power can simultaneously affect the past and the future. What else is in store for us?!
*looks up in surprise when suddenly a slip of paper flutters down* Only seven words are written on it, but it strikes fear into my heart.
It says “The Speedo Which Loved Me; A biography”…. *cue ominous music*

Also, when this duel over my affection going to take place? At dawn in Hyde park or during high noon in some deserted main street?
Please inform me as soon as possible, I need to coordinate my outfit accordingly. Can you imagine how passe it would be if I showed up in the wrong sort of dress?! Horrors!

The two have agreed to it, Ms. Viola! Weren't you informed yet?
Our gang is now being sent to Jeju as an advance party to make preparations for the competition. They've decided on a triathlon instead that would kick off at the shore and end at a certain Mysterious Garden at the heart of the forest. They said whoever finishes last will have to drink five bottles of the restaurant's special flower liqueur and suffer exchanging bodies with Philip Lee for a year.
viola
January 15, 2011 at 8:27 PM
@The Kidnappers
Please, ask Mr Hand Towel if he would rather not have an abs counting competition. I was rather looking forward to an ab off between Siwon and him. Perhaps we can reach a compromise, how about they compete in the triathlon shirtless? ;)
The Kidnappers
January 15, 2011 at 9:11 PM
Ms. Viola,
Philip Lee stepped in as the organizer of the triathlon. He would not allow Mr. Hand Towel and Siwon to battle shirtless for the concern that they might not finish up because of the winter cold and UV rays. Instead, he agreed that the finale be an abs counting at the Mysterious Garden - whoever gains more abs wins.
By the way, the dress code is strictly Elvish. So please come in your faerie getup complete with pointy ears.
P.S. The likes of Yoda are not allowed in the competition grounds. Not even in the after-party. Sorry.
- The Men in Boxers
The Kidnappers
January 15, 2011 at 9:20 PM
P.P.S.
The Dark Elf would also like it to be known that whoever loses in the triathlon/abs counting competition will not exchange bodies with him, but with our former boss, Kim Jung Seok. (Mr. Kim financed the competition in exchange of having a body worthy of chasing Mae-ri. Looks like he has not moved on.)
By the way, the glove that you mentioned was Tae Seul. She said she was happy being held by Siwon and slapped at Mr. Hand Towel's face. She has stopped transmogrifying since. She just smiles a lot these days, which is equally-disturbing.

Dear Ms. Viola,
Such stunning premonitions you have, for we were instructed by Mr. Hand Towel to pass a message to you along with the Speedo:
"Come join us. Forget Siwon, and we will live a life of delightful crime spree together."
Also, we would like to inform you that a certain Prof. McHottie had been sending us his emissaries, trying to bid for the Speedo. Apparently, the professor wants the trunks for some deep sea exploration somewhere south. We've heard that he is obsessed with searching for a certain Little Mermaid, which inspired at least two k-dramas recently - which were actually magical attempts to submerged cities around the world in sea of tears.
Please let us know if you still want the Speedo, for you remain to be the top recipient of the "precious." Seriously, we want it out of our hands the soonest possible time. Its effects on Tae Seul had been, at the least, terrifying - she has been transmogrifying from human, to ogre, to barrow wight, to wraith, and lately a slinker - constantly hissing and screaming, "Speeeeddddoooo... mmmmmyyyy... prressss-cccciooouuussss..." Such a burden, you know. Twice we had to hit her hands with a hammer when she dared to grab and open the protective case of the Speedo.
So please, make a decision right away.
P.S.
Mr. Hand Towel was never the same after he was parted from the Speedo. He, too, had been transmogrifying. Once, Tae Seul washed all the towels in our headquarters only to find in horror a few minutes later that MHT was in the tub with the rest of the laundry - he turned into a bath towel. And then one time, we were delighted to find a huge tree at our backyard - we thought it was ball-transferred there by MHT's order, so we camped out under it that night with a bonfire only to hear the tree coughing - we realized it was MHT. He turned into an Ent. He said he had a marathon viewing of his past dramas and turned into a wood-like creature as a side effect. All through these, he kept mumbling that in place of the Speedo, your presence would stabilize his form. Also, he has been mumbling "Siwon" and "abduction", we thought it was some haiku because of the rhyme.

Dear Kidnappers,
Alas, you might not have been there for the epic Sidhe Love Test of Siwon and Viola, but I assure you that I was. Please, do not let your boss suffer as so many other men have suffered over the want for Viola, for as fair and as kind as she might be, her own true love is Siwon. Here is a recording of their brave actions.
1. O I forbid you, gents a',
That wear gowd on your hair,
To come or gae by Carterhaugh,
For young Viola is there.
2. There's nane that gaes by Carterhaugh
But they leave her a wad,
Either their rings, or green mantles,
Or else their hearts a toke'.
3. Siwon has kilted his green kirtle
A little aboon his knee,
And he has broded his raven hair
A little aboon his bree,
And he's awa to Carterhaugh
As fast as he can hie.
4. When he came to Carterhaugh
Viola was at the well,
And there he fand her steed standing,
But away was hersel.
5. He had na pu'd a double rose,
A rose but only twa,
Till upon then started young Viola,
Says, Sir, thou's pu nae mae.
6. Why pu's thou the rose, Siwon,
And why breaks thou the wand?
Or why comes thou to Carterhaugh
Withoutten my command?
7. "Carterhaugh, it is my own,
My daddy gave it me,
I'll come and gang by Carterhaugh,
And ask nae leave at thee."
8. Siwon has kilted his green kirtle
A little aboon his knee,
And he has broded his raven hair
A little aboon his bree,
And he is to his father's ha,
As fast as he can hie.
9. Three and ten gents fair
Were playing at the ba,
And out then came the fair Siwon,
The flower among them a'.
10. Three and ten gents fair
Were playing at the chess,
And out then came the fair Siwon,
As green as onie glass.
11. Out then spake an auld grey maid,
Lay oer the castle wa,
And says, Alas, fair Siwon, for thee,
But we'll be blamed a'.
12. "Haud your tongue, ye auld fac'd maid,
Some ill death may ye die!
Father my bairn on whom I will,
I'll father none on thee."
13. Out then spak his father dear,
And he spak meek and mild,
"And ever alas, sweet Siwon," he says,
"I think thou gaest her wi child."
14. "If that I gae her wi child, father,
Mysel maun bear the blame,
There's neer a lady about your ha,
Shall get the bairn's name.
15. "If my love were an earthly bride,
As he's an elfin grey,
I wad na gie my ain true-love
For nae lady that ye hae.
16. "The steed that my true love rides on
Is lighter than the wind,
Wi siller she is shod before,
Wi burning gowd behind."
17. Siwon has kilted his green kirtle
A little aboon his knee,
And he has broded his raven hair
A little aboon his bree,
And he's awa to Carterhaugh
As fast as he can hie.
18. When he came to Carterhaugh,
Viola was at the well,
And there he fand her steed standing,
But away was hersel.
19. He had na pu'd a double rose,
A rose but only twa,
Till up then started young Viola,
Says, Sir, thou pu's nae mae.
20. "Why pu's thou the rose, Siwon,
Amang the groves sae green,
And a' to kill the bonny babe
That we gat us between?"
21. "O tell me, tell me, Viola," he says,
"For's sake that died on tree,
If eer ye was in holy chapel,
Or christendom did see?"
22. "Roxbrugh he was my grandfather,
Took me with him to bide
And ance it fell upon a day
That wae did me betide.
23. "And ance it fell upon a day
A cauld day and a snell,
When we were frae the hunting come,
That frae my horse I fell,
The King o' Fairies he caught me,
In yon green hill do dwell.
24. "And pleasant is the fairy land,
But, an eerie tale to tell,
Ay at the end of seven years,
We pay a tiend to hell,
I am sae fair and fu o flesh,
I'm feard it be mysel.
25. "But the night is Halloween, lady,
The morn is Hallowday,
Then win me, win me, an ye will,
For weel I wat ye may.
26. "Just at the mirk and midnight hour
The fairy folk will ride,
And they that wad their true-love win,
At Miles Cross they maun bide."
27. "But how shall I thee ken, Viola,
Or how my true-love know,
Amang sa mony unco maids,
The like I never saw?"
28. "O first let pass the black, sir,
And syne let pass the brown,
But quickly run to the milk-white steed,
Pu ye his rider down.
29. "For I'll ride on the milk-white steed,
And ay nearest the town,
Because I was an earthly knight
They gie me that renown.
30. "My right hand will be gloved, sir,
My left hand will be bare,
Cockt up shall my bonnet be,
And kaimed down shall my hair,
And thae's the takens I gie thee,
Nae doubt I will be there.
31. "They'll turn me in your arms, sir,
Into an esk and adder,
But hold me fast, and fear me not,
I am your bairn's mother.
32. "They'll turn me to a bear sae grim,
And then a lion bold,
But hold me fast, and fear me not,
And ye shall love your child.
33. "Again they'll turn me in your arms
To a red het gand of airn,
But hold me fast, and fear me not,
I'll do you nae harm.
34. "And last they'll turn me in your arms
Into the burning gleed,
Then throw me into well water,
O throw me in with speed.
35. "And then I'll be your ain true-love,
I'll turn a naked knight,
Then cover me wi your green mantle,
And hide me out o sight."
36. Gloomy, gloomy was the night,
And eerie was the way,
As fair Siwon in his green mantle
To Miles Cross he did gae.
37. At the mirk and midnight hour
He heard the bridles sing,
He was as glad at that
As any earthly thing.
38. First he let the black pass by,
And syne he let the brown,
But quickly he ran to the milk-white steed,
And pu'd the rider down.
39. Sae weel he minded what she did say,
And young Viola did win,
Syne covered her wi his green mantle,
As blythe's a bird in spring
40. Out then spak the King o Fairies,
Out of a bush o light,
"Them that has gotten young Viola
Has gotten a stately-bride."
41. Out then spak the King o Fairies,
And an angry man was he,
"Shame betide his ill-far'd face,
And an ill death may he die,
For he's taen awa the bonniest bride
In a' my companie.
42. "But had I kend, Fatima," said he,
"What now this night I see,
I wad hae taen out thy twa brown een,
And put in twa een o tree."

Omo Unnie! Who was there recording all this?! Then they had the gall to pass off Siwon's and my story as Tam Lin's and Janet's story! I am owed a lot if money in copyrights! :P
It was rather romantic wasn't it, unnie, how Siwon won me back from the Dark Lord of the Elves, aka Philip Lee. :)

@ The Kidnappers
I never wanted The Speedo for myself. I only wanted it in behalf of all the females of Dramaland, whose view was obstructed in the now infamous shower scene. :P
But, in light of all the mayhem The Speedo has caused, please just return it to Mr Hand Towel. No need to dispose of it by throwing it into a volcano. If you try that method of disposal, Tae Seul might try to dive after it. And as much as I dislike her for pawing the abs of my beloved, I do not actually want her dead.
As for the so flattering proposal of Mr Hand Towel, please tell him I can not accept. My tender heart breaks for the pain it will cause him, but none but Siwon shall be my paramour. Please break it to him gently, make him drink some herbal medicine and sit down first before you tell him.
* melancholy sigh* It is my curse to be all things to all men.... :P

Ms. Viola,
Thank you for your reply. Please be informed that we have sold he Speedo to Prof. Comforter upon reading your reply. (He was leaping in utter joy and screaming like a delighted girl when the transaction was concluded. Such power the Speedo has.)
Mr. Hand Towel does not want the Speedo back anymore. Its absence is evident in the Episode 4 of My Princess - there is a shower scene, but no sighting of Speedo. He has decided to be like us, since he heads us, and therefore forged a pair of boxers of his own. He said something about the boxers possessing more power than the Speedo, and any other underwear he had used in the past.
Soon, we will be known as MIB (Men in Boxers).

LOL men in boxers.
Hey guys, some ppl are rooting for some good old fashioned bromance between Mr Hand Towel and the prof. I wrote this fanfic; thought you might like it.....
MY PRINCES: A Midnight Encounter
(Setting: Mr Hand Towel's bedroom. Midnight. Mr Hand Towel sits in an armchair. He is troubled. A knock on the door is heard.)
Mr Hand Towel: Who is it?
(Enters Prof wrapped in a comforter)
Prof Comforter: It’s me…may I?
Mr Hand Towel: OMO! Prof?!!!! What are YOU doing here? At this time of night?
Prof: I’m Prof Comforter. I came here to do some….comforting…..
(makes pouty kissy motions with lips. Sways suggestively towards gaping Mr Hand Towel.)
Prof: TADAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
(Prof throws off his comforter to reveal his full glory)
Mr Hand Towel: OMGGGG! GOOD GRIEF!!! Prof! Have you lost your mind???? You….You don't have a stitch on!!!!
(Prof throws back his head and starts to gyrate and pole dance around the coat hanger at the corner of the room.)
Prof: So….big boy….do you like this ( drapes himself languidly around the pole)....or this? (clambers up pole and dangles nakedly upside down)
Mr Hand Towel: GOOD LORDY ME!!!! You...You...
Prof: I I what what? (giggles)
Mr Hand Towel: You’re going to catch a chill …. it’s freezing, man!
Prof: Huhhhh??????
(Mr Hand Towel swiftly grabs a dozen hand towels and forcefully drapes them over Prof Comforter even as the prof struggles to throw them off unsuccessfully.)
Mr Hand Towel: Here, man…hurry! You’re turning blue!!!!!
(Mr Hand Towel grabs Prof. Prof submits with an ecstatic sigh and clings to Mr Hand Towel's neck and smothers it with kisses. Mr Hand Towel drags prof with difficulty to nearby kitchen. Opens microwave where frozen steak is warming up. Shoves Prof full-frontally in front of it.)
Prof: AARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HOT! HOT! I’M BURNING UP!!!!! HELPPPPPP!!!!!
(Mr Hand Towel pulls screeching prof away from microwave.)
Mr Hand Towel: That’s better…..you’re all pink and warm now, Prof….what a relief! Hey…wait…where are you going????
(Prof runs buck naked out the door clutching his scorched balls)
Mr Hand Towel: Hey, Prof! Come back here! You forgot your comforter!!!!!

Happy Friday, kids!
I got my acceptance e-mail from Yonsei today! :D It's the language program, not real school, but that's fine because I already have a Bachelor's. :P
But now my father's all up in arms about how much everything's going to cost, as if I hadn't already shown him the EXACT SAME FIGURES months ago. The man's driving me nuts.
So, to placate my father (because otherwise I might get homicidal just to shut him up), does anyone know what the policy is with international students and part-time jobs? Because the Korean embassy's website is so very very vague. I remember seeing something about it last year when I was first looking up stuff, but I can't remember what it was or where I found it. :/

@ockoala,
Oh, oh, oh, that hurts. That really hurts. How can you not trust me? I'm such a trustworthy person! I've made it so clear that I would never touch your oppa. Can't you see how innocently I am standing in this corner, demure and completely non-encroaching? I mean, my fingers may have very lightly brushed against your oppa's abs, or was it chest. Even then, that was maybe once. Maybe ten times, at most! And I didn't feel-feel anything. It may have been smooth, flat, hard, and delici--. Not that I licked or anything. So, really. Don't look warily at people without cause. You hurt feelings, you know. :-)
[I have spent waaaaay too many hours catching up on your oppa. What makes me mad is how this man at 36 looks better than when he was 22. How is this possible, dammit?]
@Kender
OMG, congratulations! Trying to become the Token White Girl in every K-drama ever is a lofty aspiration (I spit on people who aspire to be doctors and lawyers.) You better snag yourself a cutie actor (not SSH or JGS, please).
I don't know anything about Korean laws, but generally foreign student visas don't allow for part-time jobs. However, it's possible that you'd be able to land yourself a part-time under-the-table job tutoring English (to a cute actor)
How exciting for you! I can't even imagine how thrilled you are right now.

I hurt my drama-sis' feeling? I apologize for the verbal insinuation that you were slowing and inexorably FALLING FOR MY OPPA. See, when I write it in all caps, doesn't that sound really serious? I was merely reminding you that someone out there (ME) was watching you. In case you even harbored the misconception that you ought to step over the line with respect to his abs, face, scrunchy cute expressions in MP, everything. Is still all mine. :-)
I worry that MP5-6 will make you actually consider, and I mean really consider, watching either AimH or Summer Scent. Remember this - AimH has fauxcest of the most faux and cesty variety, and SS has my oppa dressed like a blind dalmation sporting Yonsama's discarded hair piece from Winter Sonata.
Stick to MP, and maybe catch a few eps of East of Eden - he looked great, acted like crap, and the drama went to crazyville about, oh, 25 episodes in, and then kept going for another 30 more episodes. If Mary was bad, imagine Mu Gyul and Mae Ri going more batshit insane for tens of more episodes. That was EoE.
Anyways, I'll give your the benefit of the doubt that you didn't try to lick him through your screen. And yes, he looks way better now than he did when he first debuted.
This MV will make you LOL and LOL until you can LOL no more. It's so wack, I miss classic K-pop MVs from 10 years ago. *wipes tear from ma eyes*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5YCxKMGjsQ
MV is for Kim Bum Soo's Once Upon a Day - starring my oppa, his sister-not-quite-a-sister Song Hye kyo, and Ji Jin Hee.

January 14, 2011 at 2:04 PM
AimH is brain-hurty. I..I couldn't handle it. Won Bin was the only good part about that drama. D: Never attempted SS, but after attempting both AimH and WS I swore never to watch another season drama.
LOL at that MV. It's just so very 90s. XD
Nom_Kitteh
January 14, 2011 at 2:15 PM
O_o that MV. Oh dear. I did LOL at the end -- after LOL-y-cringing throughout. You have the best collection of AimH-y stuff up your sleeves when it comes to this oppa of yours, don't you? Seriously though, you have more than proven your love for this particular oppa, so don't worry--I really won't overstep my bounds in this case. I've fallen for HY, but will respectfully keep a distance. (I really think you should keep a better eye on Kender. No need to keep an eye on me. No. Need. At. All.)
I'm pretty sure that I won't go near AimH nor Summer Scent, despite your enticing info about blind dalmations and hair pieces. I read a bit about the fauxcest in your review, and just reading about it made me pukey and my skin crawl.
I HAVE been considering East of Eden. I've been reading a lot on it. Reading comprehension is not my strong suit in SSH threads, but it seems like it was a fairly nasty time in his life. It makes me extra happy to see him rising up strong in My Princess.
I am comfortable with M3-level of madness, as long as the eye candy is there (as there was with Jang Keun Suk and Kim Jae Wook in M3). Listen, I sat through Bad Man just for glimpses of KJW! I'm hardcore w/my eye candy.
Would you recommend some of SSH's movies? I'm not into movies in which anyone, let alone the lead, dies, and sadly, Korean movies seem to enjoy off-ing their leads, which is why I'm wary of trying out his movies; they look kinda lead-die-ish.
I'll follow your advice and stick with watching and re-watching MP for now. I like the newer, slicker, tighter mid-30s (more adult...rawr) SSH.
ockoala
January 14, 2011 at 2:46 PM
Awwww, c'mere, you two! Let's have a Park Hae Young group-love hug! I'm such a softy, of course I'll share him witn you guys (for the duration of MP). :-)
@ Kitteh - god, the number of bad SSH YT videos I've watched....
His movies? I still haven't watched the Korean remake of A Better Tomorrow (Mujeokja), which was a box office success but got pretty bad reviews.
Oppa definitely did NOT die in He was Cool, so perhaps start with that, but the movie is pretty meh.
I haven't watched Fate either, since I'm still allergic to Kwon Sang Woo after the double whammy that was Stairway to Hell and Bad Bad Love.
Sometimes, I'm content just gazing at stills of my oppa. He so very pretty.

The Drama ratings page here at DB is very helpful.

Then go after the actors you like, sampling the first few episodes to see if you want to invest all that time.

I hate making recommendations (yet here I am about to recommend stuff -_-;;) because good recommendation take into consideration what the recommended's watched and enjoyed. Anyone could suggest a drama that would be fantastic in their opinion but if the main elements of the drama don't vibe with you, then you won't like the drama.
For example, some male acquaintances that I know have REALLY taken to Secret Garden while some others who just couldn't get past the first episode. So you know?
For me, I LOVED Sungkyungkwan Scandal, SoulMate, and The Woman Who can't get Married because I felt that there was great chemistry between all the characters and the chemistry made me care about what happened to these characters.
Right now, I'm loving Athena because JWS is such a lovable goof and the NK mahjong owner is a great character to me. Also, the fight/action scenes are pretty damn cool.
I'm also intrigued by Joseon X-Files because it's something I have seen before: Science/Supernatural Fiction in a Korean Drama. Since I like that genre in general, I'm going to finish this drama eventually to see what the Koreans handle this genre.
So...yeah. Here are some recommendations but let us know what you like so that we can well informed recommendations.

When you pulled off a Mystery Science Theater 3000, Mary was the best show, ever. Write your own dialogue for the show (I personally liked using a lot of Dr. Who references to explain why certain things happened) and sometimes I used Buffy, Firefly, and Sherrilyn Kenyon references to keep myself entertained. If you watch, don't download a version with subtitles because they will just confuse you.
Mary was pretty, it had amazingly cute acting and lots of situations that were fun if you like yaoi.
If you get drunk or do drugs on a regular basis (I am counting cold medication here, too) then you'd probably like it with subtitles that way.

There is a saying that you never forget your first Dr, so starting in the right place is important.
You must start with season 1, aka the Christopher Eccleston, aka Nine. Because then you start relatively caught up and fresh and meet Rose. Now, if after visiting with Nine and Ten, you decide to go back and visit the other Drs, well done.
I'm an old-time fan, so my Dr is Tom Baker, but I'm a big fan of Nine and Ten.

If I may offer a counter: I actually DO recommend Mary Got Married AND Stayed Out All Night And Got Two Hot Guys And Listen To Good Music.
For starters, the loser-guy with no money gets the girl and wins over the super-rich guy. Not only that, loser-guy is genuinely a loser: he has no money, has commitment issues, is insecure, and is obsessed with his first love, his hair, followed closely with his second love, his music. Now that's refreshing.
Next, the loser-guy has to be the sweetest leads I have seen in a while. He's not arrogant; he's not interested in social climbing; he's not interested in being a part of acceptable society. He just is. He loves it when someone knits him gloves. He loves it when someone shows up at an ice rink. It's very simple. He wants only warmth and love, and he expresses that he wants that and only that. That's refreshing.
Girl is super cute. She's maternal, yet girlfriendly. She gets the boy. That's super refreshing in K-drama land where miscommunication is paraded as angst. Nope. In this case, the girl intuitively understands the boy, has similar life experiences as the boy, and gives the boy what he wants without pretentious pretensions.
So, if you can look past the complete lack of plot, you'll be rewarded with a quirky, sweet romance that feels at times uncomfortably honest and real.
I have made many snarky comments about this drama, but it really did creep into my heart and burrow a hole in it, in all honesty.

Ockoala! *hugs back* I've watched that walk down Hongdae quite a few times since, and it never fails to make me happy. I hope JGS never hits it big in a mainstream drama b/c so much of his charm lies in the outlier, in the indie-vibe of counterculture.
I didn't think you were stabbity at all (I think you hide snark very well, or you're just incapable of not being nice!). It must have such hard work to recap (hats off to you, JB, GF, and all else who serve fans so selflessly) because I got increasingly quiet and removed from all discussion while watching M3; the more flawed the plot (or lack of) became, the more charming, and lol, precious, the four kids became to me. The more private my space became w/M3, the more I loved it. So extra special thanks to you (and JB and GF) for putting yourselves out there and offering such amazing fan service.
I hope people do try out this drama. My advice to interested folk: fast forward through the scenes with the fathers, and pause to watch the scenes where the the young actors, especially the main four (which includes rocker-chick), act their heartfelt hearts out.

Dear, dear, Nom_Kitteh,
How do i thank thee for your recommendation for MSOAN and for your sharing on how MSOAN has burrowed a hole in your heart - because I feel EXACTLY the same way...everything you said, was EXACTLY what I went through...
as more and more senseless the plot became, the more in love i became with the characters, not least of which because JGS and MGY were the incomparable leads...
i am now going through major MSOAN withdrawal (after a MAJOR one after SKKS) and I am thoroughly drained, emotionally, intellectually and physically, because I can't find the energy to watch any other dramas, not even MP or DH which have been getting fairly good reviews...
sighhhh.....thank you so much for articulating what was on my mind throughout the duration MSOAN was recapped by JB and Ockoala...in Singapore where I live, MSOAN is being aired, last 2 episodes on 17 and 18 Jan.
and i have recorded every single episode for me to re-watch at my heart's content - and as you have suggested, i have done the exact same thing - fast forwarding the parts that do not have JGS and MGY in them...
thank God for someone like you, Nom_Kitteh, for appreciating what i find so worthy of appreciation - the gifted actors, JGS and MGY, who saved a train-wreck of a drama and made me fell in love with them all over again...I fell in love with them when i watched JGS in YAB and MGY in Cinderella's Sister...

After years of steady drama watching, ennui, the dreaded harbinger of entropy started creeping up on me. I would start a series, but I will lose interest halfway thorough and never finish. This coming from the person, who sat through the entire season of It Started With a Kiss, heroically tamping down the urge to throw things at the screen, or gouge out my eyes with a spork a la Oedipus, just for the sake of completion.
I fear I have grown jaded. I have seen all things and done all things. Nothing now in Dramaland interested me anymore.
But I saw a spark of hope for myself in Mary Stayed Out All Night. I thought she might be my salvation, my one chance at redemption.Cautiously I opened my bruised heart to her.
But woe is me! Oh how she betrayed me! My heart, so fragile with hope, was so easy to break. Did she enjoy it I wonder?
So, I retreated. I encased my heart with dark, bitter ice, and hid my self behind an uncaring facade.
Inside I wept.
At this point, even if the entire Dramaverse went to rack and ruin I would not care. But My Princess, without me knowing, crept into the winter of my heart, and blossomed like the first crocus of spring.
I planned never to watch her, but now I can not imagine myself without her. I haven't felt this giddy in love since my first drama watching days, when every thing was new and exiting.
She makes me feel alive again and oh so gloriously young! :)

I have the same love of My Princess, I have given up on so many shows It actually can be considered a record this year. But I also have completed many of them in spite of some not being so fantastic. My dedication comes from a desire to force feed myself a language.
Now I am watching SG, Athena, and My Princess for the new shows. and currently half way through Cyrano Dating Agency.
To make sure I don't loose that passion for the things I grew to love, I revisit old friends that made it all worth every ounce of time I spent on them. Most recently I started Marmalade Boy(a marathon of remembrance).

if you hit on a good jdrama, please let me know! I'm looking for something that has just started within the past few weeks so I don't end up marathoning 10 episodes and still have something to look forward to next week. I've started a few already-finished jdramas last week and they were too formulaic (one was a mystery series where the culprit was always the pretty female the detective falls in love with- second series i've seen that had this sort of story- and the other was The Golden Pig, abt cracking down on government misuse of taxes).

Happy Friday to all! Yesterday, I slept early, something really odd in vacations but I was tired, and I dreamed, something equally odd, and my dream was about Secret Garden. I’m excited about the final, but my unconscious mind decided go farther. I dreamed that Joo-won was a super hero. But he doesn’t wear a cape or his underwear over his pants…no, he wears the blue sparkly tracksuit. Hell, yes! I don’t remember the details, I think he was saving Ra-im, obviously (or he was saving me? I don’t remember). I saw the link that Jomo post. Why I don’t have $100 right now? I cried. I was so close to get that blue sparkly tracksuit. Buu.
Ok, happy weekend!

One of the toughest weeks of my life. I EARNED this weekend.
Janna, bro, I thought you'd see that clip and be like ''Seo Jung-gil! You sexy beast!'' and not ''Aaaaargh.... What tha faaaaaaarque!?!''
But go ahead, penalise me by forcing me to watch Paradise. It looks cheesetastic! But it can't possibly be any worse than Scream High, right?
I don't know if I warned you earlier but during a certain period in the winter I turn into mush. I generally avoid rom-coms like the plague but during this period I don't mind them at all. And Saengchori's beginning to turn a wee bit romantic on us, and I totally, totally don't mind that it is. Ha Seok-jin is dreamy! Mmmm.
I'm still snuggling up with the two Smile couples too. Sun-joon x Ji-soo and Hyun-soo x Jung-in. Mmm... Romance. Love and stuff like that. *floats on air*

NOT a sexy beast. Haha... I don't even know if Eric could sing the 2NE1 song like that and I'd be okay with it. "I'm just gonna...slowly creep out the back door, sorry Eric..."
I just.. I've seen the first episode of Dream High but I am so out of that age bracket. I just can't. I don't sit down every week to watch Glee either. Sometimes things can be okay and I can not watch them, right?
Almmmoooosssttttt Paaaarrraaaadddiiisssseeee......Ranch.

If Dream High AND My Princess can be this popular with everyone (which I still think is a sign of the apocalype by the way) then who knows Paradise Ranch could turn out to be the top drama of 2011!
So...we know that's not gonna happen...but seriously, what is up with all the DH and MP love?! I feel so out of the loop and even tempted to watch them just to see what it's all about, but then I remember how much I hate the two leads in MP and how scary just the entire premise of Dream High (haha at Scream High) sounds.
Supah - I think I might do some Lee Bum Soo penance by watching Surgeon Bong Dal hee! I've had the dvds downloaded for like a year but keep putting it off. Have you seen it and do you have any convincing arguments about how good (or bad) it is?

janna: If Eric was to do the 2NE1 thing, it'd be even funnier, he already has a kinda CL-esque diva thing going on. *cowers from janna's glare of death*
I think DH is meant to be 2011's answer to 2010's God of Study. It's targeting the same age group. ''Girrrls and boyss... Uh! Uh! Dreams come true, YEAH!''
But where I could tolerate GoS because of Yoo Seung-ho, his adorable grandma played by Kim Yeong-ok, his cute teen crush on Go Ah-sung and his chingu Chan-doo-yah... and their ages were the same as the characters they were playing --- DH just feels so, so wrong. Worse still that they have my fave actor (ever) among them. BYJ is SO going to corrupt him.
And then we can weep over another Giant alum when Paaaaaradiiiiise comes around. (Ew, why do I envision Kim Hyun-joong's hairy armpits when I remember that song?)
Yeah, MAX Time, sounds right.
Kristal:
Yay, you made it. I'm SO outta the loop, too.
SBDH! I love it! Absolutely love it!
Forget ''you had me at hello'', LBS' Dr Ahn had me at ''Oi, Pighead!''.
If you don't hate Lee Yo-won (I don't) you really shouldn't have a problem. It's a gem of a show and Park Geun-hyung is great in it too.
The major gripe I had with it though was that the Oh Yoon-ah and Kim Min-joon couple hogged a bit too much drama time, I didn't mind them at first but I was agitated towards the end absolutely craving to see more LBS.
Watch the first episode and see how you like it. Really, it is a gem, or at least I consider it one.

2NE1 is a korean girl group. Supah last week was pointing me to a clip from the drama Smile You where it was played in a norabang resulting in super unsexy times.
MAX TIME needs more explaining. So the drama Paradise Ranch has our dear Min-woo from Giant in it. Supah has to watch the first episode, because if not I will fly over to her house and hold a boom box playing Loving You from Giant for hours in front of her residence until she succumbs to my wishes.
Max from TVXQ/DBSK/power-rock-duo/Those-fans-of-theirs-be-crazy is the male lead of the show, and lo and behold but a new track be dropping from his group. ..... I mean, the duo he's a part of. Pretty much the rest of it can be explained with this link of great importance and greatness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8XuyJLexPQ
supah
January 14, 2011 at 6:31 PM
Yeah, Max-time for TVXQ member Max Chang-min (our Paradise lead to whom ''destroy-all-in-my-path'' Jo Min-woo plays second lead!) and T-MAX as in the boyband that came out with Paaaaaradiiiiiiiise!
janna: You want to wail? See KSH wail at 3:16 and go ahead and wail with him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_r9X-0kOLeY -- ''uri ahbeoji pendant!'' *sniffle*
You need to watch the Drama Special Father's House -- so moving. Or rewatch whizfk (y'know you wanna). Or do what I did unintentionally while I was screencapping, watch the first episode of Giant after the 58th, note the blood-on-his-hands symbolism and howl in despair. It's devastating in context.
Wow, the more I see this MV, as much as I like Moon Geun-young, her acting in those scenes seems so phony.
Shirroh? OK then. Saengchori is getting better and better, bon appetit. <3
Oh, Jo Pil-yeon can never have unsexy times, ever. He did High Kick and came out with his career untarnished. Respeck.
Kristal: ''The Giant cast is having all kinds of crappy luck with their project choices.'' Yeah, even Hwang Tae-sub, the sageuk he's currently in is also rumoured to be snipped down.

I watched like 20+ episodes of Smile, You but don't remember that part. Link?
Oh and playing LOVING YOU outside of someone's house is just cruel and unusual punishment! That song should be banished and obviously the Giant team realized that too since it didn't make any appearances after like ep 18 or 19.

You guys! Don't diss WISFC! I agree HYS' voice was offputting at the onset but acting wise she was decent especially towards the end. That is one drama that I will defend to the death. So bring it. Rarr!
Janna:
I promised to get myself into sageuk this year, I've only ever watched 2 (+ 1 short drama) and so I've dl'ed the first episodes of Gumiho Fox Child, Joseon X-Files, Jejoongwon and Ja Myung-go. But I'm not in the mood for em right at this moment. Right now I'm actually craving something like Piano, of all things.
It's a melodrama with Go Soo, Jo Jae-hyun, Jo Min-soo, Jo In-sung, Lee Jae-yong... and uh, Kim Na-heul. But barring the latter that cast is awesome, the premise is also awesome. So who cares if it's directed by Oh Jong-rok right? *cough* And that it's written by the Cinderella Unni writer. (This seems worse the more I look at it...)
I just watched a 1hr tribute to the show and it actually looks really, really good. I am way impressed! Maybe like Choi Wan-kyu has a fluke like All In, Oh Jong-rok has Piano?
Of course, if it's crap, I'll roll off that train.
''Will it snow for our non-denominational December holiday.'' Hah! Greetings fellow Grinchling.
That MV had both le Giante and Whizfk clips. So you were right on both counts, he rolled off that train and fell into the makgulli factory and dropped his ahbeoji's pendant in a pot of makgulli, it was a special necklace which gave him courage and helped in warding away Jo Pil-yeon.
Are you up to date with Saengchori yet? LYE is adorbs. I love her hoodies, I really want one she wore in 11 with yellow stars. I'm trying so hard not to ship her with Min-sung. But they're awesome together -- that reindeer scene! Hahahahaha! Or is he just going to stick with Biktoria? Gah! Stupid rom-coms and love triangles and impending angst and stuff.

Well the subs for eps 2 and 3 are calling him joong-geun now! I lost disc 1 of the actual dvd release so I have to watch the first 3 eps using withs2 subs and his name keeps switching. Who knows what the hell it will be on the dvd version!!
LBS is being a total hardass and he's kinda pissing me off actually but I seem to always like assholes in RL so I will probably fall for him as it goes on. I hate Dr Jo (not the intern but the other one, though both suck). No more scenes with her please! That actress was annoying in Someday too.
I haven't seen Cinderella Unni and couldn't understand a word they were saying really in that MV but whoever made it did an awesome job editing it. Props to them.
WISFC is generally disliked Supah so I'm surprised I actually stumbled upon a fan of it.
Piano was meh to me. It started out ok but as the show continued I was really hating Kim Ha Neul and wanted Go Soo to just get over her already! I don't even remember what happened in the end. I think I fast-forwarded through some of it. What the hell happened?! Did the step-siblings finally hook up? Did Jo In Sung finally grow a heart? Did the little boy finally speak?
I just love Go Soo which is the only reason I even bothered with Piano.

I overslept last night, so I couldn't post earlier :( .... I live in Indonesia and I figured that there is about 14 hour difference between Indonesian time and dramabeans time (LA time, I presume?). I was all prepared to pull an all nighter yesterday, alarm and all, but I forgot that I have this habit of pressing the snooze button over and over again.
Anyway the reason I want to post early is because I wanna ask something Korean-culture related. From my K-drama experience, I came accross that many of the characters in the drama usually have the same surname, such as, Park, Lee, Kim, etc. What I am wondering about is whether Korean is allowed to marry another person with the same surname? In my country, some tribes are not allowed to marry someone who share the same surname since the surname indicate a close family relationship. So, I wonder whether the same case also applies to Korean.
Thanks.

As I did for one of the last open threads, I am now once more raving for a drama from earlier this year that I've caught up on- Prosecutor Princess! The first couple of episodes were annoying, and the stalkerness was not so hot, but I giggled like a crazy person over most of it, and thought the plot was really interesting. Not totally a revenge drama because those generally end in DEATH but thought-provoking, with well-motivated characters, throughout.
Now catching up on Dream High, Joseon X-files, Secret Garden and My Princess. Whew.

I had the nightmare from hell for a student last night...
my handy dandy school work laptop crashed and everything I was doing- I was working on four different things last night- a protocol for the research project my group will be heading for the next 6 months, a 20 page written review of several different movies (Psycho, The Celebration, Wilbur wants to die, and the Pianiste) with an in depth analysis for each of the characters and their psychological issues, a Power Point presentation for my Clinical History class about the 12 Cranial Pairs (Nerves) and the different methods of evaluating their function and the different lesions that can occur and their consequences, and a lab write up. So can every body imagine what my mind must have been like last night?
everything went up in smoke...
well not quite that literally but yeah it disappeared, the computer was completely blank...
I wanted to die... really I had a unfun panic attack that led to me having an asthma attack something that I hadn't had in about four years, luckily I always stock up on my Albuterol inhaler so I survived.
Because I had to finish two of those 4 things for today I didn't sleep and as soon as I finished it I had to rush off to my different classes.
Thus if my calculations are correct I haven't slept more than two and half hours since Tuesday due to having hospital duties, a lot of homework and the night from hell. I'm running on coffee, redbull and the occasional rockstar, which is the worst thing I could do for my body but it can't be helped.
I should be reviewing my cases but I can't look at another clinical case without wanting to scribble nonsense all over my notes and thus I have headed over to Dramabeans and after this rant on the OT thread I must get back to schoolwork because I can't fall asleep or I won't wake up till Monday.
Since I have no one that will check up on me and I'm a chronic snooze button pusher when I haven't slept in this much time, I have been known to sleep almost an entire weekend away without waking (thus I've earned the name "weekend vampire" Since I am almost literally dead to the world on these occasions...lol)
ok my crazy rant is over.... and now I can say I can't wait for secret garden! and I'm really thinking if I can't watch it this weekend I am literally going to have a heart attack (maybe).

Oh! I feel the crashing laptop with you.
It actually hurts my stomach thinking about how yours must have felt!
I bow to you for all the work you are doing, though.
But, seriously, get some sleep. You need to be fresh for SG!

That. sucks.
Rockstars are disgusting. I just lived off of black coffee and horribly loud and annoying mix "cds" (just a bunch of mp3s we'd share in the studio) Luckily I have a rare ability to sleep anywhere for catnaps, and for whatever duration without having an alarm clock.
That's right, I've never regularly used an alarm clock in my life. I can just say "Okay, I want to be up at 4am tomorrow" and it just happens. There must be a million clocks in my dreams to track the time.
Students of this thread:
Save early and often. Thumb drives, external hard drives, a cloud or email is your best defense in not losing your work.

Eeesh! That sounds hellish.
If you continue soldiering on as your are doing, you'll be rewarded at the end. There's always that, right?
I have the same sleep problem, once I'm asleep, that's it. I need a trail of four alarms to wake me up in the mornings. AND someone banging on my doors -- ''switch that bloody thing off! Nooowww!''

Off-topic to many, but it is related to the post ;) The Love Language will be performing at Noise Pop this year. Woot! If you're in the Bay Area, check them out. They'll be a part of a great line-up that night ;)
Anyway, I am loving My Princess. I didn't think I would, and I was a bit cautious considering that the main leads had the reputation of being less than good at their craft; so, this is my first time being exposed to them. They haven't disappointed me in My Princess, and I am enjoying the show's swift pace.

Hi y'all.
Just thinking since Hyun Bin is going into the marines and will be off our screens for a wee while I wonder who's going to be the man/men to replace him.
Looking forward to all the dramas and cute actors 2011 will bring.

I love reading through the threads even if I don't comment. Wish I had more time. You guys are awesome and hilarious.
Anywho ... I just discovered a place to catch subtitled Korean flicks in LA. So excited. There's a CGV Cinema in Koreatown and they're showing both Petty Romance and Looking for Kim Jong Wook (re-titled Finding Mr. Destiny). I am way excited. Plus the local Art House theater just selected Old Boy for their midnight Friday on the 21st. Pretty awesome.

I recently finished reading "Silver Borne" - the fifth book in the Mercedes Thompson Urban Fantasy series. I never imagined I would enjoy the genre so much but all of the credit goes to the amazing author - Patricia Briggs. I love how she builds a story, her characters are believable and Mercy is one of the best heroines ever written.
I cant wait till the next book is out : March come quick!!!
Until then, I am off watching the KMovie "Cyrano Agency"

This is definitely my favorite series of all time. I also like Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series (the apocalypse is caused because humanity became more interested in genetic tampering instead of going to the moon, and a tomato was our downfall) and Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series (the Greek gods are real, and are just as petty as we've always suspected).
Mercy Thompson is still the best, though. But I'm a little biased, what with being Native American with a degree in History.

open thread! hooray! :)
watched dream high and im ecstatic! hahaha. episode 3 and 4 did a good turn for all the characters and a build up for the entire story. in short. i am getting happy about it and i cant wait for the next episode! Suzy is also getting better... i can feel her a little better now :) gahh... that motorcycle scene with taecyeon was just sooo cute... i can't forget it! hahaha! adding up IU's someday as bg music... what the hell... it's so freaking CUTE! hehehe!
IU and Wooyoung are also so cute... i like the fact that wooyoung is not an asshole to iu since shes chubby and all... i like the dynamics of their friendship... its without pretense since wooyoung is good to her when she wasnt all that glam... :)
soo hyun oppa is so daebak! awesome vocals! i cant help but fall in love with him more and more... (dont worry kyuhyun oppa... youre still the best singer and #1 for me hahaha) and i like the fact that he's all protective of suzy/hyemi... i hope they'll have a friendship based relationship because i really want the taecyeon-suzy partnership hahaha.
eunjung is awesome as ever! good acting... you'll really love to hate her... that's what i like about her... she is able to make you sympathize with her but at the same time you'd want to kill her... good background story for her character... :) and its so different from coffee house..! hahaha.
i'll stop my spazzing here... i cant wait for ep 5 and 6 next week! gahhh!

I am watching secret garden again , my addiction has gotten so bad I take my netbook with me
went to a friends house for dinner and she got made because i would not help her in the kitchen
so i put hyun bin song on and went into the kitchen for 40 minutes , after hearing the song over and over and over again she said go away
but she likes the song just does not understand why a person can be so inlove with kdramas
my lovely samsoon is on the repeat cycle too
hyun bin looks so young
what will we do after he comes out of the Marines
there should be a law that he cant go serve but on the other hand he wants to serve his country
ahhhh
i think by the end of the year i will know every word in secret garden
and my Korean is improving thanks to my studying
seriously thinking about going to learnn it over there so I can be the first black actress on kdramas and get me a star
sigh

just noticed something with the Characters that Binnie played in MNIsS and Sg , they were both rich cold men who fell in love with warm women
the best role for Binnie a cold hearted Rich man
he has the pensive look down to an art and there is always a family member they show affect to
