I'm so glad this show is back :)))

I really liked S1 but I don't like the lighter tonal change in S2.

I'm trying to get into the show, but I am having some trouble suspending disbelief - I enjoyed the first season a lot, but for some reason I am not enjoying the second one - I can't quite get the underlying serial crime happening, nor the set up with his former gf who he thought was dead (from last episode of first season). Episode to episode very serious crimes seemingly being handled in the end with very weird resolutions (the hospital scene? very weird). Maybe my expectations were high or maybe they have a lot to live up to - I'll keep watching and hoping. I really love these characters.
