Seeing korean news about Liu Yi Fei as Mulan trending, I wonder if some koreans watch chinese dramas, or just know her as Song Seung Hun’s girlfriend. I know Legend of Lu Zhen was somewhat known in Korea, but there are a lot of masterpiece dramas from China. It would be so cool if Koreans watched them, and a shame for missing out if they don’t. Just a thought.
If you google Nirvana in Fire and Korea, it apparently was a hit. I’m surprised this year’s megahit Eternal Love (aka 3 lives 3 spaces 10 miles of Peach blossom) or Princess Agents hasn’t made a wave yet. They definitely have the addictive wish-fulfilling elements that Korea loves. I can’t find out if they aired in Korea yet so perhaps that’s why.
What I wonder is if Jin Yong’s drama adaptations are popular in Korea, because they almost always are a ratings hit in China, at least when they’re from a major production.
Both Eternal Love and Princess Agent aired this year, so I’m assuming THAAD conflict had something to do with that or I bet they would have been huge in Korea. Shame but maybe Korea will catch up with them now that THAAD is somewhat winding down.
Oh, it’s for a fact that Koreans watch the more popular Chinese dramas. Especially since a lot of the Korean culture borrows from China’s history. Take New Journey to the West for example. Before, lots of Koreans watched China’s classics like we watched Korean dramas, but it’s no longer the trendy thing to do, ever since a decade or so. Still significant, but not as huge.
Nirvana In Fire posts make me want to share this:
Cant miss Wang Kai DIVINE voice: definition of honey. I melt at his deep notes. SWOON.
Note subs in Korean&Jp too bc #masterpiece drama deserves it.
People never mention New Heart when they talk about medical dramas, but to me, it was one of the first favorite of the genre. Not the most medically accurate, but so good. Kiss alert.
