Something I love whenever I rewatch Love is for Suckers (the good parts, that is, lol) is how, even before the two have a meaningful interaction, John is often a focal point in Ji-wan’s scenes. For instance, here is the moment right when Ji-wan has met the rest of the cast. It’s not really noticeable the first time around, or if it is the viewer probably would assume he’s thinking something along the lines of “they let someone like her on the show?” and just meant to make us more convinced, at this point, that he’s a jerk. But, rather, it’s the direction hinting at something that won’t be more obvious until later.

    Pinocchio was the first drama where I saw Kim Young Kwang.
    I liked his character there.
    And I got a little of SLS 😅

    I think it’s going to be funny, but already vex that the husband is such a loser taking the rent money forcing her to do whatever it takes to keep a roof over their heads and then has the audacity to be walk out so he can have his fun more easily. Outrageous levels of cheek especially as it looks like she could have had any man and chose to marry him because she loved him not status.

      I do like that she is going out of her comfort zone to do this business. That was more interesting to me than this husband affair business. I want to see her grow and embrace her life and live it up. Our Seoul officer seems pretty chill about these so that’s nice.

Also, this is yet another manhwa set in a pseudo-European fantasy world that will now be set in Joseon era. I think this will translate better than The First Night with the Duke, but I\’m still curious about how it\’s going to work (especially with the rival empires and the role that magic plays in the story).

I\’m not against western remakes of Kdramas, but this one is SUCH an odd choice. The whole theme is the reunification of Korea. There is zero way the story can work outside of Korea, unless you make a fictional country with a similar situation. Why not remake, like, Queen of Tears or something instead?

    I can only think of USA and Cuba as a backdrop. Regardless, as much as I like to be an optimist, I simply cannot imagine any remake capturing the magic of the original. I’ve been burned by Netflix remakes way too many times. A Time Called You was a disappointing Netflix remake of Someday or Oneday. Avatar the Last Airbender also never came close to the magic of the original. That movie spinoff (El Camino?) from Breaking Bad was lackluster as well.

    This is a terrible idea, and not just because of the setting. This drama is too recent, for one, and way, way too popular. I agree that there are so many other dramas that could use with a re-making or even Westernization, but not this one.

    Didn’t you feel after wasting 90% of episode 15 it continued on that mission of not managing the main couple? What was the point of showing his eye and hand condition?

      Yeah, absolutely. Did they want to make the main couple’s reunion somehow even LESS satisfying?

      I also love the doctor/firefighter couple, but they didn’t seem to resolve the actual issue at hand (like, love is great, but also she really wants children and he can’t have them)…

    I liked the first season the best because they talked about the daily jojo’s and I loved that idea I loved how they showed text message delivery and the swap of the characters presentation with the impact of covid.
    The second season got a bit annoying and I gave up a few episodes into the third season.
    I am enjoying The producer’s second life and The second lead syndrome. Unfortunately, The second lead syndrome writer has been on a break for a few months and I don’t know if this is permanent. The story was out in one format when it was first released and then was picked up so they have had a while to think of the ending so the fact they haven’t worries me that they may have overworked themselves or lost motivation.

    My main issue continues to be the bombardment of ads. (Since I subscribe I should be enjoying DB ad free but that isn’t always the case.) I use my iPad for most of my viewing and I have a feeling the root cause may be Adblock Plus and not DB. Viewing DB on the Safari browser I am inundated with ads nothwithstading having Adblock Plus. Using the Chrome browser I usually can get to view DB ad free but not always. If I fiddle with ABP and then go back to Chrome the ads usually go away. I mean as soon as I log on to DB these ads come on like Klingon Warbirds decloaking and firing away.

      I’m also having some ads, but only when I first log in after the site logs me off — see post above re people having login problems today. Refreshing gets rid of them.

      Can’t say about iPads, but on my PC (with Firefox) uBlock Origin seems slightly better than Adblock Plus.

      Also, both Adblock Plus and Adblock by default permit some ads that they think are harmless, but there’s an option deep in the menus to turn that off.

        Lord Cobol, I found the place in ABP to turn off acceptable ads and I am still having issues. I am sure ABP wants me to upgrade to a pay subscription and in the back of my mind I wonder……

Okay, I\’m sorry, but in ep 12 Ja-yeon and Gyu-hyun are not acting like a couple who\’ve been dating for six months. Did this drama switch writers? Ep 12 all of the romance just felt more puritanical
