No but seriously, skunks are incredibly weird-looking up close. You may think you know what one looks like but you don’t. Your brain expects a black cat with a white stripe and a squirrel tail, but their proportions are all wrong, and I do a double-take every time I see one. It must be even harder for artists who don’t live in a place where they are backyard fauna.
Oh I kNOW. FRAKKING MUSTELOID TAXONOMY THAT ISN’T A MUSTELID. *throws things*. Euplerids and Viverrids are weirder still though, so… at least I’m not drawing a Fossa????
I love weird animals but man. And I thought the Archaeopteryx was annoying to figure out! Actually I should be fine once I get the geometry down but it is eluding me thus far.

He’s too cartoony for my style! Also funnily enough, for cartoons, Flower and Bluebelle from Bambi are weirdly more accurate.
