Although most consider House of the Disappeared a horror film, I think it’s more of a mystery thriller, if you can call it that. I love Kim Yun Jin ever since she starred in Lost, and when I realized she is in this movie, I did not hesitate to give it a try. The movie is riveting and keeps you on your toes most of the time. Although marketed as a horror film, there are actually very few scares. It is based on a similar Venezulean film titled ‘The House at the End of Time’.
Ok Taec-yeon is grossly underused in this film though. I expected more character development from him, but the focus of this film is KYJ, so her character is more developed and rounded. I love Jo Jae Yoon’s portrayal of his character. Although he doesn’t appear frequently throughout the film, his few minutes on the screen is enough to carve out his character traits.
I enjoyed the film very much.
