Probably because he felt he was hurting them more by staying alive, due to the harsh, draconian response from law enforcement, the SK press, and many in the public. Not to mention the fact that if he had a drug problem, it’s not like he was in a psychological position to deal with this kind of extreme pressure and harassment. It’s awful, and I wish he hadn’t felt so desperate that suicide emerged in his mind as the best option, but there’s a lot of blame to go around here. I feel so sad and angry on behalf of him and his family.
Just marine the desperation of a person who thinks the world will be better without him? He didn’t do this out of selfishness, but out of pain. He’s not in fault. He needed help and no one gave it to him. We, as a society and a community, are also in fault.
