So many WHOA moments on Start-Up today. So many resonating dialogues spoken today. So many tears shed for our characters today. So many realizations today. SO MANY.

I’m eagerly waiting for the recap to be released. We HAVE a lot to speak about the last two eps.

Start-Up you continue to amaze me. Thank you for such for such a well balanced episode. I still don’t know where you’re heading but wherever it is, I know it’ll be (heartbreakingly) beautiful!

I agree! Glad the revelation happened earlier and not on the last week.

Just the way it happened! I’m not one to buy teasers and I analysed the heck out of it, and I still didn’t see that coming. Hats off to the writers!

It is a beautifully written and well-acted episode indeed. I don’t think anyone could predict such ‘fate’.

It was a good one. Heartbreaking but still with funny moments.

I don’t know who broke my heart the most, DoSan or JiPyeong.

But even so, I’m not totally happy with the show: DalMi seems to exist only to be the “girl” male leads fight for; InJae is just a plot device, and I’m still mad at halmoni because she hasn’t even tried to reach her…

It bothers me. I can’t fully enjoy the drama because of it.

I understand where you’re coming from. Truly.

I’ve worked in the television industry. It’s hard enough to produce a quality show when the situation ALL around is good. I’ve nitpicked too many dramas because it’s an occupational hazard. BUT with the way the world is at the moment, the pandemic making things so hard for people, (lives lost, careers destroyed, world upturned) these guys are still trying their bestest. No matter what route the show takes, or how I believe characters could have used better or the storyline more impactful, this is the blood, sweat and tears of a group of people doing what I could never do in this uncertain time. I am thankful for their hard work and utterly grateful for the ray of sunshine that is Start-up.

How was your time in the tv industry? Was it worth it? Or a waste of time in the end? Thanks!

It was exhausting to be honest. The schedules are so chaotic, late nights, early mornings, no weekends, 54 hour work days at a stretch. Can’t say it was a waste of time because I learnt to really push myself then.

Thanks for answering btw! I can only imagine. Was it fairly hard or daunting moving up on the television hierarchy? Good to hear that you at least got something out of it!

It wasn’t very hard to get a promotion. But you have to be willing to do menial jobs like stand outside a set and stop people from going in, to running coffee, dealing with cranky talent, hardass
cameramen, sulky editors. Oh and if you have a hellish PH, good luck.

It’s basically everything I heard, ah the menial work before moving on up lol. Thanks again for answering!

The push and pull from light to heavy scene was awesome 🤩

NJH is the reason I eagerly waited for Start-up. I’ve watched everything he’s in, incl variety appearances and movie (he looks beautiful in a ponytail and bangs).
So then why am I dreaming of dimples?

Cause dimples has more backstory. We know more about him and his feelings and struggles whereas Do San isnt explored as much

True. I don’t buy into the FL and SL with this show. Given my tragic SLS history, no other SL I’ve sobbed over has ever gotten this much importance in any show. There HAS to be a reason right?????

Because DoSan is poorly written in comparison to JiPyeong.
On any other drama we would all be rooting for the ML that is madly in love with FL and has no chance to win her because he’s a nerd and he can compete with the ideal FL has.
But in this drama most of us want SML to get the girl.
He won’t, according to dramaland laws.

This is just me spitballing but what IF the drama gods have decided to appease us by highlighting the SML on purpose. Giving him more of a backstory. Giving him more depth. Giving him every reason to win the girl this time. Giving him dimples!!!! (Sorry, dimples are my kryptonite) 😍

You’re so right about the writing. JiPyeong has the strongest storyline. We know nothing about DoSan other than the Olympiad, and the snippets from his parents about Living Buddha and his appeasing nature. And DalMi – gosh, for a FL, she is very two-dimensional. I feel bad for Suzy, because we’re 8 episodes in, and we hardly know her.

@Mad_Missile because dimples are better 😍

Hello.
I was looking for a forum where I could discuss all things KDrama (I haven’t managed to drag my people to the dark side yet, so I have no one to squee with.) SO happy to have found DB.
