Interestingly, when the dialogue starts suffering in this show, so does the music! No joke. There were some rough, unfunny patches on Friday that had boilerplate synthesizer music…but as it turned around, the great songs came back. Coincidence?
Oh that’s fascinating!!! I’ve definitely noticed there’s a direct positive corelation between how much I like a drama’s music, and how much I like the drama.
Interesting observation @attiton. Rough patches for me are the drinking scenes. Frankly the drinking scenes in episode 10 were so annoying and interminable (I don’t ff but…..).
(Aside. At MDL, CA2AM in the credits lists both a ‘Original Creator’ and ‘Screenwriter’. I wonder who is writing what? I think I have seen comments along the lines that the humorous scenes in CA2AM don’t come off as well as the serious scenes. I am starting to buy into that view. For me the drinking scenes are pretty bad but then in the serous moments the writer gives the main characters some beautiful dialogues. So careful thought is being given to what the ML/FL, 2ML/2FL and painter (lol is he 3ML?) say to each other in serious/intimate moments.)
I usually just roll my eyes at the alcohol in K-dramas, but the binge drinking scene spurred on by the “not love triangle” this week was actually outrageous. The amount of alcohol that group drank–and the speed at which they drank it–was quite literally deadly.
I didn’t know that about the writing “collaboration,” but am totally on board with what you’re saying. That scene in the empty boardroom between our OTP was absolutely beautiful (as was the “family breakfast” with our 2OTP) while most of the scenes with the bumbling office duo fall completely flat.
I have a feeling I’ll probably like this one, but I think it might make a nice bingewatch for me later on! I’ve also been realizing that some dramas that don’t get a lot of Beanie love actually work well for me, but are better experienced after the hubbub has died down (although this one isn’t getting much hubbub 😅). I just finished A Good Day to Be A Dog and loved it, and I’m in the midst of Welcome to Samdalri and am loving it. I’ll definitely try it out, but maybe in a few weeks! (Or this weekend; who knows 😂)
I can’t recall the last drama where the music has really grabbed me like the tunes in CA2AM. (Lol, maybe JTBC’s ITAEWON CLASS in 2020). “Sweet Drama” is the opening tune and sets the tone. “Shing You” is a beautiful ballad. I don’t know if it is intentional but a lot of english lyrics are included in the songs (as is apparent in “Boyfriend) but to me they are not jarring but come across as organic to the song.

Thanks!
This drama has several good songs. Sweet Drama by Vincent Blue and Shining You by Sam Kim, and more.

The original creator could be the writer of the manhwa or webtoon 🤔
