Now I’m on my third attempt to watch The Untamed, I still don’t find it interesting. It got 9.3 rating on MDL, higher than Nirvana in Fire. Chang’an only got 8.8, so The Untamed must be good, right?
The Untamed is one of my fav dramas but even I admit the beginning was poorly done. The first 2 ep. is very confusing as you have no idea who any of the characters are or what is happening. And some of the acting is a bit cringey and awkward in the beginning. I didnt really start getting into the drama until ep. 6 or 7 and didnt get addicted until about ep. 12 where I couldn’t stop watching. The drama I’m sure isnt for everyone but I suggest give it atleast 10 ep. to see if it’s for you.
Thank you @trinpie@zetteceniza!
I’m going to wait until 10 episode. I’m also going to read the first few chapters of the novel. I’ve always do this for C-drama, it’s also my only complain. The viewers should be able to enjoy a drama without looking for guidance and reference outside the show itself.
However once everything is set, a C-drama can be really enjoyable sometimes more than k-drama.
It took me a long time. I’m not sure what made me soldiered on. But once I got into it, I binge watch it. C dramas are weird in this sense. It take a number of eps and then before you know it, you finished a 50 ep drama in a blink of an eye.
I wish I can be more helpful but I can’t even pin point at which part it hooked me. What helped immensely is that I found Wei Wu Xian charismatic and the two leads incredibly beautiful, a term which I normally hate to use on men.
ITA, C-drama is weird like that, most of them took me 5-6 hours to understand the world that the writer trying to tell us. There’s only few C-drama that I could get into the story without googling here and there; Nirvana in Fire 2 (maybe because I already watched the first one) and another cdramas that I’m currently watching, Day and Night. I wish all C-drama could be like Day and Night.

I also suggest you read the first few chapters of the novel (https://exiledrebelsscanlations.com/grandmaster-of-demonic-cultivation/) to clear up some of the confusion. I was really confused as well. I’m hoping it’s just a slow burn for you and that you won’t drop it for good. 🙂
