Beanie level: Candy

Does anyone have recs for 2024 dramas where the romance is truly about two people and their mutual love/dedication to eo and it’s not just 90% the ML i.e the opposite of serendipity/marry my husband?

Really? Because the vibe I got from the synopsis/trailer/comments on mydramalist is exactly what I don’t want. A relationship where one person is doing most of the heavy lifting vs an equal partnership of mutual love and support.

I hear you, but without wanting to offer any full-blown spoilers, it’s not that there isn’t mutual love and support, it is that they are both coping with their external circumstances differently.

I’ll put it to you this way: I’ve never, ever seen a K-drama were I ended up more 100% sure that two people were honestly, and truly, committed to one another…and had been for the entire runtime.

Okay, that last sentence sold me, thanks I’ll give it a try. It’s been really difficult finding a drama this year with a relationship like that because as of late, the majority of shows seem to be the 1st category (and it’s always the ML) and not the second. I miss the days of one spring night and hometown cha cha, where there was often a clear effort in showcasing both halves and their commitment to eo.

From Korea maybe Atypical Family, Wedding Impossible, Frankly Speaking…

Thank you, I did watch and enjoy atypical family, I watch dramas from every country but I think the other one which does a lot of romance is China and they’re much (much) worse than Korea in this aspect. Almost every romance I watched from them this year was an exercise in incredibly uneven relationships.

This year hasn’t been great for cdramas but I really liked You are my secret and it fits your requirement.

I’ve seen it and liked it but I still felt that their relationship relied on him making most of the effort from start to finish.

I liked the relationships in The Legend of Shen Li and Are you the One? (aka Hidden Charm).
Maybe not one hundred per cent of the time but I think the couples showed mutual love and support. I really loved those couples.

Are you the one is unfortunately the opposite of what I’m looking for, that middle stretch of episodes was quite painful to get through and even at the end I never believed that the FL had anywhere close to the same affection he had for her judging by her words and actions, he showed such a depth of love for her so many times and the real her (i.e with her memories) didn’t portray even a third of that imo.

Now I know what you mean.

Then definitely The Legend of Shen Li may have the kind of relationship you are looking for.
Beautiful couple from start to finish.

Oh, I DEFINITELY recommend Atypical Family! Actually, Midnight Photo Studio had a very dedicated FL

This has been the year of MLs with no other personality trait other than being faithfully in love with the FLs since forever. So I feel you.

Tell Me That You Love Me
    Openly Dreaming of Cinderella
    Romance in the House
    No Love No Gain
    Frankly Speaking
Like Flowers in Sand (in this one it is obvious that the ML liked her first/more, but there’s no uncomfortable imbalance in their relationship, and the ML has an actual personality/life outside of her).

    I would recommend to avoid:
    Lovely Runner
    Welcome to Sam Dal-ri
    Love Next Door
    Queen of Tears
