When I was so frustrated with 1-dimensional annoying K-drama villains such as Kim Bum Joo (Signal), drama Gods gave me the most colorful and iconic villains of all times! Who is your favorite K-drama villain (who were even more interesting than the heroes)?
This series exceeded my expectations in many levels, and one of them was well-written and interesting villains who were indomitable enough to bring out our hero’s full potential!! In addition to the well-written characters, Choi Min Soo’s brilliant portrayal of Ahn Oh Ju and Lee Hye young graceful portrayal of Judge Cha will be unforgettable for years!
Yes, such memorable villains! The writer did a really good job to show the scope of a villain’s tyranny, influence and power by creating multiple adversaries as well as henchmen… and the actors perform their roles flawlessly…
Best OTP of 2018: Not a typical K-Drama couple at all! They were a power couple with equal partnership, they were both brave and smart, and brought something to the table, they learned from each other, they supported one another and built together the Lawless Lawyer firm (to fight with the law!)
I was so invested but the last 4 episodes have been hard to tread through… I know they’re a very atypical OTP but still… the romance is sooooooooooo subtle, it’s barely existent.
I shall struggle through and finish this show though!

Agreed that it wouldn’t hurt to have a bit more skinship but at least they express their devotion through laughter, grooming/petting and kicking ass. Last year’s Judge vs. Judge/Nothing to Lose featured the most anemic OTP I’ve ever seen. When Eui-hyeon asks Jung-joo to transfer to his new district (via text), I asked, “Based on what?!” I think they held hands in the closing credits. Didn’t buy it for one second.
I have a question from intelligent Beanies! I was wondering why some people keep watching a drama that they hate so much?! Especially when they’re fully allergic to an actor/actress?! I would personally drop a drama/movie/series as soon as I lose interest! But if I keep watching something through to the final, I admit that there was something Really Good that kept me watching, or otherwise why wasting time when there are lots of other dramas available?!!
For me, it’s a bit about having closure with the plot of the drama that I chose to start watching. Once I start losing considerable interest, the fast-forward button is always there for me, so I can finish episodes quite quickly (especially if it’s just 1-2 per week during live-watching). Most dropped dramas have one of two interesting characters / plots that I like which I focus on.
I personally wouldn’t pick up a drama which has an actor / actress that makes me go argh unless magic happens. I also normally do not watch all dramas available because there are bound to be some genres that I go NOPE and it’s rare that all tv networks would air the genres I like at the same time because of variety reasons.
As a rule I don’t continue watching something I don’t enjoy. I certainly don’t watch something I hate, and then go on and on bashing it, and the actors. Sometimes though, there is something that continues to draw me in, whether it is a component of the plot, a particular performance, or it has become so egregiously bad that I watch for the campiness of it all. For example, there isn’t much in About Time that I find very compelling anymore. The premise was intriguing, I like the two lead actors, and yet the drama is, well, boring. Except for two things. First, I’m still interested in how the writer will resolve the main conflict with the life clocks. Second, and I know this one is strange, but the PPL has become a study in how not to insert product placement in your drama. Seriously, possibly the worst integration of advertising I have ever seen, and I can’t look away.
All of this is to say, that I’m still watching, but if something in real life were to prevent me from doing so, it would not be missed.
I do not, however, understand those that have such strong negative feelings for a particular actor (usually female) but yet continue to watch their work and post ad nauseam about how horrible they are. Too much energy dispersed, without any real gain. If you don’t like, don’t watch.
I agree: “If you don’t like, don’t watch.” I need to like at least something about a drama to watch! A recent example is WWWSK, I’m not liking its plot so much, but I love both leads and their antics, so I admit there is something attractive there that keeps me watching, or otherwise I will drop it without any regret!! I’ll certainly drop a drama if I dislike most of its ingredients!
Well said @egads “go on and on bashing” a drama is what I can never understand! We all have different tastes and our own biases, why to watch a drama solely to spoil the fun and making a fool of other people who are actually enjoying it!
random thoughts :
– the love for actor A is enough to forget the allergy towards actor B
– interest lost from ep8 but remember how enjoyable/funny/memorable/promising ep1-7 were ,
– interest lost but still hoping/believing until the last second that the drama will get better
– watch until the end, despite the stupidity, trying to understand why others gave it a high note
– not wanting to start a new drama in fear of getting burnt again so rather keep getting burnt by finishing the first one even if it’s very stupid
in my early days of drama watching , I finished almost everything I started it was just my watching habit, then at some point I started dropping some shows.
side note : an answer from a geunyang Beanie , I’ll check better/elaborate answers from other Beanies
“watch until the end, despite the stupidity, trying to understand why others gave it a high note”, Lol, I admit that I watched g Signal because of all the good reviews and tried to keep watching because I thought something unexpected would happen, but I was quite disappointed at the end! Too bad it turned out to be the 1st and THE LAST K-drama I watched with my husband…
Add me to the list! I found that drama too predictable and TOO REPETITIVE (killing the main leads and bringing them back to life got too tiresome at the end)! I also watched it because of all the good reviews and the two veteran actors (which were pretty good in their respective roles), but LJH acting was terrible… I learned my lesson after watching Signal (and also Healer): I decided to avoid reading reviews before watching a drama, because too many good reviews can totally brainwashed you and stop you from seeing the obvious plot holes… Also both high- and low-rating could be totally misleading!
Stranger, one of the reasons is, sometimes I see lots of praises about a specific drama here on beanie wall or elsewhere, and then when I start watching the drama and still don’t feel hooked enough, I ‘feel’ the need to carry on. I mean, at those times, I am curious to know what I am missing out. But to me whether I will watch a drama or not, and whether I will fall for the chemistry or not is decided by the time the news about the drama comes out lol. Call me weird haha, but I solely watch a drama based on the chemistry factors of the leads. If I feel they have captivated my attention and if I love their chemistry/rapport/interaction I ‘will’ watch it even if the story is awful.
Such a nice shot! One following her father’s legacy as a corrupted judge, and the other pursuing her mother’s legacy as a brave human right attorney, seeking justice and punishment for corrupted powerful leaders!
Lee Joon-gi, the star of “Lawless Lawyer,” fascinates viewers with the nuances of his eye expression. The actor’s detailed expression using his eyes makes the drama even more engrossing, keeping the viewers completely immersed in the feelings experienced by Bong Sang-pil.
tvN’s “Lawless Lawyer” has cemented its unrivalled position among weekend TV programs airing in its timeslot, and a perfect combination of Lee Joon-gi’s powerhouse performance, appealing character, and outstanding looks has drawn high praise from viewers…
