Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

Just like how R88 had that concert-stadium scene in Ep 18, Wise Prison Living gave me this: 💔😭

Bravo Wise Prison Living! Consistently amazing from start to finish! What an experience! ❤️️❤️️❤️️

I’d been putting off watching the last couple of episodes ‘cos I was loath to say goodbye, and I felt I had to steel myself emotionally for whatever big twist the drama was gonna pull out. And boy did it stab that knife and twist it good (or bad, cos my heart still hurts)! 😭

This was purely a characters-driven drama and each one of them was so memorable. I don’t know how many times it has taught me a lesson on judging characters too quick. Or on the depth of kindness that one can give to another. Or on how pseudo-families can be made by shared experiences/circumstances. And of redemption and life choices. No other drama has made me cry and laugh at the same time.

And no other drama has made seemingly mundane objects such as a notebook, chicken, boxes, shoes and a ring rip my heart out. 😭

I’m gonna miss all the characters. Hanyang is my fave inmate. Jun Ho is such an ideal best friend and boyfriend; him and Je Hyeok are my fave bromance ever. Plus Jailbird reminds me so much of Jun Yeol 😍

Such aptly put. I was also delaying the last two episodes and finally finished them yesterday but I was totally out of words. Such a great show, clearly makes itself among my top 10.

Yes, it was just amazing. It’s in my top 10 drama list too! I actually like it better than Reply 88. There was never a minute that I got bored

Hanyang was my favorite inmate, too, but unlike others I was actually okay with how his story ended. ^^

I think the drama is so well-made that you know Hanyang’s story could go either way and it would still be OK narrative-wise (for me too, at least).

I wanted so bad for things to work out for him too, but this drama has done a good job of showing the harsh realities of life and the choices one makes in an instant that will have long-term repercussions. Even the dialogue of the other characters kept saying how hard it was to give up drugs at once – I should have pegged it as an indication that he wouldn’t succeed the first time

Man, I’m tearing up again! All the good stuff (Ji Won!) he gave up and could have had just for that one shot 😭 It broke my heart. I looove his dialogue too when he was reaching for it. How he was cursing his “friend” and hating himself for giving in to temptation. Just that one line and the way Lee Kyu Hyung acted it was so great!

        Agreed!
He’s a repeat offender, and just because he’s drug-free for two months does not necessarily mean he won’t do drugs again. I already had a bad feeling when Minchul and the others were worrying about him.
If only Jiwon showed him the ring. *sigh*

shin pd and the writer has some fetish with ring, dont you think? like i just start getting better and accepting about junghwan and his damn fiancee ring, and they decided that one iconic ring scene is not enough quota, they just had to add one with hanyang-jiwon scene. and now i’m reliving the pain of that one iconic ring scene in my head.

I’ve come back to Running Man ♥ Stopped watching when Gary and the main PD left ‘cos for a while the show seemed a little lost (esp that Jong Kook-Jihyo fiasco) and I didn’t have the heart to watch them seem to struggle/trudge through the games.

But the recent reviews and improving ratings made me curious. And boy, it’s as fun and funny as it was! I’m glad and happy for the resurgence! ^^ Se Chan and So Min really brought some life back and the replacement PD too is doing a great job. This ep was particularly funny, especially Kang Ha Neul ♥ I’m happy I have a lot of eps to catch up on!

I stopped watching RM when Gary left, too. It was my sister who kept telling me to go back and watch coz So Min is funny. And she was right. The episode above with Kang Ha Neul and Park Seo Joon was hilarious! Glad you’re back on board the RM train!

My sister stopped too and I was the one to tell her to come back, which she did..lol

I love So Min! ♥ She is crazy funny! The complete opposite of the often reserved Ji Hyo. I love how she goes all out with no thought for the consequences or how she’d look like. The ep after the one above with SNSD, she was hilarious when she was trying to win over the guys with her dancing and aegyo ^^

Caught an IG Live of Lee Kyu Hyung practising for his musical and his voice is amaaazing! 😍 It also made me realize that Wise Prison Life is ending this week! 😨😢 Wahh, it seems so fast! I mean looking back, I can’t think of any major dramatic plot point that happened in all those eps yet I’m so satisfied because of the rich characters, remarkable acting and awesome slice-of-life feel. Barring any shocking twist these last two eps, it’s easily in my list of fave dramas ever! I’m already thinking of binge re-watching it to relive the experience ❤

Wise Prison Life Ep 10: My fave episode so far, so many feels with this one! I really love this pseudo-family! ❤️️ The next episodes can’t come soon enough!

So many memorable scenes – the farewell, the notebook, 💔 then the visitation and the chicken 😭 I loved those last two the most. It’s always heartwarming to see someone make such a positive impact on another to influence them to be a better person.

Also, over-excited Jun Ho is adorable..lol I’m starting to love him more and more.

I also love Capt Yoo and Han Yang, I want them to have an epic bromance too!

And did I hear Zion T singing one of the background songs? Yiieeee! ❤️️

Wise Prison Life Ep 9: Finally! Some Jun-ho time. ❤️️ As expected he’s so much more compelling now that we’re shown his story and his thoughts. I wonder, since he’s the type of person who’s innately good at whatever he tries to do – if he’s ever done something he was really passionate about. It seems he’d been picking up a hobby/occupation based on others’ influence. So I’m curious what he would really like to do or maybe he doesn’t know yet. But then again what Je Hee said about finding passion somewhere else instead of a job rings true. And that scene at the restaurant was so heart-warming! So it seemed that it was Jun Ho who distanced himself and that Je Hyuk had always regarded him as a best friend. I really want them to live together when Je Hyuk gets out.

I also love that Dr Koh is finally coming to his senses 😮 and that there’s hope for Capt Yoo’s case. 😢 Plus I laughed too much at Je Hyuk imitating Looney’s voice, it was so uncanny. lol

Prison Playbook Ep 7 and 8: Lt Paeng brought me to tears again with his kindness. I hope we get a chance to see his life too.

I felt so frustrated at the unfairness experienced by Capt Yoo. No wonder he’s prickly and afraid to get close to his cellmates when the people he was close to in the army did him in like that. He’s not gonna trust again that easily.

I loooved Je Hyuk’s speech to Min Suk, it was lovely. The show really does a great job in showing the characters with all their human flaws and wrong/unfortunate choices. And the consequences of those choices/actions, whether intentional or not. Like with Min Suk’s story, it would have been easy to paint him the victim of it all and sort of redeem him in your eyes but the show doesn’t make it like that at all. You’re made to UNDERSTAND his plight, but never justify or excuse the consequences (which on second thought applies to other characters as well)

With Dr Koh too. His boss is a sorry excuse for a human being and in all sense, shouldn’t even be in prison at all. But he ALLOWED them to use him like that. Again, life choices and its consequences. This drama and its rich characters just blow me away.

I also love that Je Hyuk’s baseball practice has included his cell mates. Plus Lawman/Jailbird! The show is also taking its time telling Jun Ho’s story, but I’m not complaining ❤️️

Yess! Made me jump up and dance as well! Lol! These people really, and the way they’ve come together as a pseudo-family is really the best thing ❤️️

Just when I thought I couldn’t love him anymore, Lee Kyu Hyung continues to blow me away with his portrayal of Han Yang. With just a slight change to his voice or an expression, even his gaze, makes his character do a complete 180. 😍 I love whenever he says “Hmph” in his Looney voice

Finding out about his life outside was so awesome, especially his relationship with Ji Won and what really happened that night. He really needed the intervention. I hope he really sticks to his goal of being clean.

Also, wow show. You’ve gone where no Korean drama I’ve watched has ever gone before. Bravo. ❤️️

Lt Paeng did something awesome again! ♥ How refreshing it is to see a drama character apologize as soon as they realize that they did something wrong without having to spend a couple of episodes trying to save pride or go around in circles blaming whomever they can or finding justifications. This is how you do it.

I know! I actually teared up when he solemnly apologized to Captain Yoo. How many people willing to do that? It’s such a simple words and gesture, but it can reach deep and building trust in a very genuine way.

Wise Prison Life Ep 6: What a fun ep! Jae Hyuk’s attempts at the competitions (and he’s really hot in white shirts), the avengers cell who is so much like family already – I wish they’d shown the dream sequence! 😂 And I squeeeed so hard at the toilet lightbulb scene with Jae Hee!

And then squeed again for Jun Ho and Jae Hyuk for the most epic back-hug ever! This is what all OTPs and bromances should now strive for, in my opinion. These two, I have no words ❤️️ I hope there comes a time when Jae Hyuk can do the same for Jun Ho

Wise Prison Life Ep 5: Jae Hyuk! Wahhh, it was even worse that I imagined! 😭💔

And Jan Baljang and Abuji too! How sad it was that Abuji’s words rang true in the end.

I am so thankful 2nd gen chaebol was his usual awesome self to alleviate the heaviness ❤️️

At this point I am curious to see more of how Jae Hyuk feels. He’s so good at always trying to be optimistic and comforting everyone else around him. 😭 We’re only shown tiny glimpses (and so few) that sometimes I want to see him lose it. But then again whenever I see a crack (that lone tear), it almost has the same effect, maybe even more. Which is also awesome.

Plus he is so lucky he has Jun Ho ❤️️

Lt Paeng! 😭 ❤

Beautiful episode. I have come to care about each and every character that I fear how my heart will fare after this wonderful drama ends.

Again, I cannot wax poetic enough about how this drama is subverting character tropes. Just when I thought I had them pegged, it pulls a fast one on me. Also, it’s quite emotionally exhausting watching this as I am alternately laughing my head off and then tearing up the next.

Keeps getting better and better! ❤

I am amazed at how well the show makes characters do complete turnarounds so that I always keep reminded not to take things as they seem as I try to keep second-guessing what really is the person’s nature. So many questions raised about judging people. Plus this drama dared to go where others have never done with one scene in this ep, just bravo! 😳

Also, how refreshing it is to be conflicted about which guy I’d like to win over MY HEART and not the female lead’s one, so I really hope no love triangle at all this time. lol. As other have said, Je Hyuk also reminds me so much of Trash Oppa so I am endeared to him already, but then Jun Ho does things to change my mind. These two! 😍

Special shout-out to Chief Yoon and Yoon, they’re doing a great job! 😆
