The best worst proposal in kdramaland goes to MMH. I love the details in this scene: the deflated balloon, the messy nutella sandwich with the nutella jar and dirty knife still on the table, the cream stains on table and the cherry on top: the Me(a)rry me paper :))
I low key judge Ji Won for saying yes, dude couldn’t even be bothered to get a new piece of paper.

This was such a summation of the nature of their relationship

Seriously. (a) How are you supposed to eat the half with the nutella smeared all over the top? Where are you supposed to grab it? (b) I decided the filling in the sandwich here was potato chips (or maybe scrambled eggs), and I’m sticking with it.

    Worst…Proposal…EVAR.

Of course, I’m not sure being proposed to by this guy again only this time it’s all conflated with the affection of some other guy (“Spring Day”) was all that more inspiring!!!! 😅

I also found Ji-won’s apparent enjoyment of those details odd, as if she didn’t remember that the man actually doing the proposing is the abusive jerkface who will eventually murder her.

I have to think on this more, but I found these episodes more frustrating than anything else. Maybe it’s just that both the FL and ML feel trapped in a fate that’s doomed to repeat itself no matter what they do, but there was a thread of hopelessness that really diluted the whole empowerment theme, not to mention the romance.

I think her enjoyment is mostly an act as it was not a private proposal at all. It was all for the benefit of Soomin, who was right there watching. Min Hwan is not all that appealing on his own so Ji Won must hype him up in order for Soomin to want to steal him. But yeah the cat and spring day details were a bit odd as it seems a confesion from JiHyuk, but merged with that dudes proposal. Maybe that’s more a birthday present, since it was also her birthday.

I can see that, but the part I’m talking about is when she’s facing away from everyone else, staring at the sky, and smiling with what appears to be genuine joy. Now, that could just be joy at realizing that her plan is still in motion, or Ji-hyuk’s obvious devotion, but still, it didn’t sit right with me.

The editing of episode 8 was super-choppy IMO.

When the “new” proposal scene started and the drones went up, I thought Ji-hyuk had simply set Min-hyun up with the tech for Ji-won’s sake. I even thought he might have bought the ring! (Which would have been weirrrd, but I guess that was where my kind was!)

But, much to my surprise, the whole office was there at this proposal???? Wae? Why?

So then her smile at the beginning got recontextualized from something that might have been about what Ji-hyuk had done for her into something that was far more performative…she had to look like she wanted this, in front of Su-min, especially!!!

            But it was really choppy.

Your guess of filling seems plausible for that guy and I choose to believe it’s true.
The spring day proposal was odd as it’s about her and the other guy, but being proposed by this dude again in a grand event was needed to make him all that more appealing to Soomin since them having an affair was not enough to get rid of him.

That’s not even a red flag. It is not flag 😂😂
This guy should have been a non starter. Beats me that he had two women 🙄

His audacity to wanting to live with both in a sister-wife, king of Joseon fashion 😂

“The best worst proposal” – perfect description. Even as fictional proposal it was 🤦‍♀️
