I’m certainly basking in the afterglow of Lovely Runner like many here. I wrote on the fan was the first week it started that I knew I would like the show, but I might just end up of loving it. Well, guess what??? I love it to bits! But what I love the most is how Byeon Woo-seok took Sunjae and breathed life into him, played him with exactly the amount of sincerity, diligence, and heart needed to catapult him into one of the best male leads ever portrayed in a kdrama. And that’s saying something, coming on the heels of Kim Soo hyun and his portrayal of Baek Hyun-woo on Queen Of Tears and Na In-woo’s green flag secret chaebol in Marry My Husband prior to that. There’s a huge difference between the acting in the two latter, and even though I greatly admire NIW and how he is growing as an actor, KSH just wins that throw down. But dang if BWS doesn’t give KSH a run for his money and knocking him off of that top internet buzzworthy spot pretty much immediately after QOT ended. I preferred the chemistry on LR, and although I ship our QOT’s leads in real life (which I’ve only done once and that was in CLOY), I don’t have that same feeling of the LR leads. I just think they worked well together and as BWS’s first lead role, he threw himself into it and really has a sensitivity in real life that translated well on screen. He was unable to hide or control this emotion and it overwhelmed him at the live watch they did in Korea yesterday evening. (And I loved that “Tae Sung” comforted him—still looking out for Sunjae.) If you haven’t seen the clip, I’ll post it in the comments. I am over the moon happy for him. It’s been a VERY long road since his debut 8 years ago. I found out recently that he has the same MBTI as PBG and I know that’s pseudoscience, but to me, it makes him that much more endearing. I’m so looking forward to seeing him in future projects. I also think that BWS is easily emotional and across from a an actress who wears her emotions on her sleeve, he uses that to his advantage. That’s what I want from his next drama as well. LR was lightning in a bottle. It’s now my second favorite drama ever next to Goblin, due to that crazy chemistry and BWS shedding that 8 year chrysalis and giving me my favorite male lead ever. And KHY is in both my two favorite kdramas ever! (She also played a minor character vignette at the end of the Korean lovers separated until they died. I noticed her chemistry then in that short sequence and she made me cry buckets. And now I’m just rambling. 😆)
Speaking of undeniable chemistry, I’ve posted the ENTIRE interview that Kim Hye-yoon and BWS did on Salon Drip 2 because I just can’t get enough of these two together. And although all of Korea is convinced they are dating, or will be soon, I am holding out that they are not, that they are just as surprised as we are that their chemistry is that good, and it’ll just make them work that much harder next time to achieve something similar.
I’m going on record as saying that I don’t think they are dating IRL, even though their affection for one another seems to be genuine. I simply believe it’s more likely than not that at least one of these two nice, financially stable, and extremely attractive people over the age of 25 were/are already in a committed relationship when filming started. Is it possible that changed suddenly and they were both free and then they fell in love while working together? Sure. It’s not like that has never happened between two actors before. But if that were the case, I feel they would be more guarded and circumspect during these events. Instead, I see two lovely people who are fond of one another but even more excited that their latest project was so well received and they’re reveling in that more than their own supposed romance. So, yeah, I don’t think they’re truly together.
That said, I thought Junho and Im Yoo-nah were actually a couple and it seems I was wrong about that, lol. So I could be wrong about these two as well.
They aren’t. KHY has gone in record as saying that he is just on “oppa” who is drifting further and further from her as time passes. (But reminiscent of her character in Lovely Runner at the beginning when she was in HS trying to get closer to him, but thinks she’s getting further and further, right?) if they do get together in RL, it’ll be much later, and after they meet again under very different circumstances.
My two penny is also that the four leads are good friends apart from being colleagues who worked very well together. Just like those four young men in Alchemy of Souls. But by virtue of being the OTP BWS and KHY are just automatically being linked together.
