Ok. The Guest is finally starting to get down to the nitty gritty. Episode 10 was great! Full of twists.

    Ok, I have never thought HP was ever really possessed and this episode convinced me. He never had a motive. He would be more likely to be possessed NOW than when he was a child. But I still dont think he is PID. I think he has some weird connection to PID, which is why he can see when the spirits are going to murder, but that is part of him being a psychic.

    I think its too early in the series to be outing PID. Its only episode 10! I think Grandpa is just a ruse to throw everyone off. That phone call at the end, why would Grandpa call HP Dad to possess him? Especially since he could have just done it when he was there in person.

    I think that Grandpa has been traveling, trying to stop PID and figure out where he is for HP. He always said that he was worried about HP and was trying to save him. I don’t htink PID would be that sly for it to be Grandpa. Wasn’t Grandpa a shaman? (I will have to go back and watch the earlier episodes) I think he was traveling trying to find PID so he could exorcise him. It seems WAY too obvious that PID would be Grandpa all this time.

    I still think Father Yang is PID.

      For sure. I want that shock factor and I want to be able to talk about it and make theories without knowing. Thankfully one potential spoiler was deleted when I was reading through and just decided to not risk it.

        We could. For ‘my ID is gangnam’ we didn’t have recaps so we collected beanies and tagged them in the fan wall. And we discussed it there. We just need to collect a list of beanies who want to remain spoiler free and discuss.

      Agreed. Even the simplest, seemingly non important comparison always felt spoilery for us who haven’t watch the original. It’s a bummer that I have to quickly scrolled through the comment section in recaps to find unspoilery discussion.

          Yes it is! We just got back home after being away for the weekend. I don’t sleep well not at home and the night before we left I didn’t sleep well. I will get good sleepies later when I got to bed for sure!

      I’m just now entering the world of BTS. My husband is addicted to him and he said he’s been listening to them on the way home from work (since I took over his YouTube and now that’s all that’s recommended on it 🤣 #sorrynotsorry).

            Hmmm…how about the solos from the Wings (2016) album? They’re pretty personal songs and give a good idea of the members.

            Since the ones you mentioned are mostly high energy ones, perhaps check out Blood, Sweat & Tears (BST hehe), Fire, Spring Day, Ddaeng, Best of Me, Not Today, Anpanman (live performance recommended). I got started with Boy in Luv, but the lyrics to that are honestly whatever (& they misspelled love XD).

So did they get married? Was that a real wedding? So she collapsed then it was some weird montage of dream and reality? Who married them? Where was their family? Was Si’s mom a victim of a body snatcher? Can I just pretend those 2 episodes didn’t happen? Someone please help me.

          I’m still trying to figure out what happened at the end. I still think those 2 episodes were some weird dream sequence after Shancai passed out and no one can convince me otherwise!

          Also ALL of their kisses were SUPER AWKWARD. And I though kdramas were awkward. Nope. Nothing like a face press cheek kiss. 🤦‍♀️

    Oh, sweet pea. I tried to warn you to prepare yourself going in. But—honestly, there’s no preparing yourself. There’s no storytelling that takes place in these two eps. it would be one thing if the two killed themselves and thats how the drama ended. Or, if it ended with DMS marrying Monkey and SC going off and living a quiet life and them both being sad. Like—they aren’t great options and not what anyone really watches dramas for but they are understandable from a storytelling pov. What happened here? Is unexplainable. Some things happened. And then some other things happened. And the one had nothing to do with the other. It was just….weird. And bad? And I dunno, man.

In regards to Xaiozi re:Meteor Garden…

She is literally the most despicable character. She talks about how she doesn’t want to marry Si and supports him and Shancai and yet she is always going alone with his mother and the arranged marriage. If she really didn’t want the marriage she would refuse and not go trying on dresses while telling Shancai how she won’t go through with it. I hate her. She’s disgusting.

So many problems can be solved by honestly. But then I guess we wouldn’t have dramas would we? I just want to smack Si and Shancais heads together. Maybe they need a “get along” shirt.

Even though I adore Si, if I were Shancai I probably would have gone with Lei. He’s a sweet soul and I love how he cares for her and always has.

    The first time I watched the Taiwanese version of this show, I also wanted Shancai to be with Lei, but when I rewatched it a few years later, I found Shancai’s relationship with Si more “healthy” for her… if that makes sense…

      Si has grown a lot as a character. I dispised him at the beginning, but once his violent and forceful tendencies went away, he’s just become the sweetest. He still has a lot of growing to do, but I love him.

      In the new version, I don’t feel any romantic feelings between Shancai and Lei. They are good friends and are always there for each other no matter what. I can see a few feelings in Lei, but I also see that he values his friendships more than his romantic feelings. He also knows that Shancai and Si very much care for one another.

I am literally obsessed with this song at the moment. It’s hitting all the right spots. I listened to it on repeat on my way home from work.

Also, their agency obviously knows what it takes to break into he American market. This song and a lot of English lyrics. Which is good to push into the US. Americans are lazy and snobs and will be more likely to listen to something they can understand. That’s not saying that there haven’t been songs hay got huge that didn’t have English, but they were one hit wonders in the US never go be heard from again.

      In my opinion, yes we are. Americans are picky. Other non English speaking artist have tried to break into the market with limited success. Take PSY for example and recently the artist who sang “Despacito”. Most listeners don’t want to listen to something that hey can’t inderstand. A few songs have gotten popular but then fizzled out. They have to appeal to the American listeners and the listeners want to be able to understand the lyrics.

      I have noticed their more recent tracks have a lot of English lyrics a in them. IDOL has the most I have heard this for, seemingly to be majority English lyrics. Which is good for breaking into the American market. Time will only tell how deep they will get in, but they are definitely on the right track by having songs listeners will understand.

      Also. Look at Mic Drop. The original was all in Korean but the remix was translated to perform in the US. They understand there are higher chances to get into the market with translated songs.

        ST just posted the Japanese version of Pentagon’s Shine. I didnt realize they do a whole different version for that market.
        I kind of get it though. It’s a different experience and music can be so intimate. Not that it is only lyrics that do that, but I can understand why it can be intimidating to dive into music with foreign lyrics. And then sometimes you look it up and it’s a bad translation.

          I have always been a fan of any music, even if I can’t understand it. I rarely look up translations of the songs. I enjoy the musical ability but many are not able to completely disengage like that and just appreciate it for how well sung/produced/performed it is.
