Thanks for including these links, it’s always best to put explanations with the links like you have above so that beanies can make an informed choice on whether to click on it or not.
I know that it is disappointing when beanies comment negatively about actors in terms of their acting, appearance etc. especially when we have a different opinion about the quality of their work. We are trying to keep the beanie community light and be mindful that the actors could read these comments and be hurt by them. We fans try to remember these as just opinions of absolutely no consequence as they are not from people who have any say in the actors lives, they are not able to offer constructive feedback from their own experiences in the field and it is adds a negative atmosphere on a normally positive site.
I hope that you are not too upset by this experience and can find other places on the DB site that are a more reflective of the positive atmosphere we usually foster here.
Thank you for such a kind reply. This is my fav site to read ( I have been silent observer) about kdramas( it’s like a heaven for kdrama lovers) but some times some people just comment on some actor’s /actress’ nose or any body parts/ clothes, that just bugs me because I personally feel those actors are human just beings they have been entertaining us for long. Even if we don’t like them I believe we should not say on public forum( unless we are giving constructive criticism).
I don’t get what happens online because I know they wouldn’t say it to a person in real life because they are generally not cruel people.
Yes this site is a lifesaver for me who has nobody to chat to in my social life about K dramas but thankfully being brave on here I now have a small K drama club which is made up of group of us chatting on Zoom monthly about various dramas. It’s quite an international group of people and we never would have met if it wasn’t for the DB community. We have met up in person with some of the more local group members or those who were coming to London anyway that has been so interesting. Do you have people to chat to offline about K dramas?
Thank you very I agree its wonderful to have different people from different opinions parts of the world united by their love for kdrama. No I dont have anyone n to talk offline.
The chats in the weekly weecaps comments section have been great but we wanted more hence the Watch & Discuss K Drama club was born last year.
If you are in the right time zone and you would like an opportunity to chat at a deeper level on a range of dramas you are welcome to join us. No pressure at all if it is not something of interest. We try to stay on the lighter side of coming of age, slice of life, romance, but have tried a few different genres some we stayed with but didn’t enjoy, others we dropped. Our future watch list is being composed but currently includes Misaeng, Black Dog, Salon de Nabi. Our completed watches so far: Chicago Typewriter, How to be thirty, Page Turner, Avengers social club, Two lights: Relumino, Everything and Nothing. Tomorrow we will be discussing Sungkyunkwan Scandal. We meet the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 London time for an hour on Zoom. We have a few set questions about themes, the OST, whether the older dramas have aged well and everyone is very friendly. We cover most nationalities, a range of ages, introverts and extroverts and we have one man in the group. Beanies are welcome to try it to see if they like it and then we close the doors for a few months so we can have time to get to know each other before the next group of people join.
