[Drama Chat] A curse on your enemies

I have the policy of not wishing harm. if they are meant to face misfortune, then they will. same my friends, they´re like bless you begone, they will attract what they are. the law of attraction.

but I do wish Putin would drop from a bridge and lose his memory.

No matter where you go or what job you have, may your supervisor always be a cross between the ones in Marry My Husband and Our Unwritten Seoul (or insert other terrible boss here).

I’ve been waiting patiently for some of these to premiere, and now it looks like they are all going to drop at once, literally on the same weekend! *sigh* Dramaland has no respect for my schedule at all!

On the plus side, The Mantis and My Youth both have cool/lovely posters, and I feel like there is no way Confidence Queen is going to be anything but a hilariously good time!

Episode 4
I know who are officially the main leads, but I can't help and the more I see of Boa... and Boa and Jihyuk together... the more I want THEM to be the main couple... and watch the story about a girl who was once madly in love (and eloped... and that's why she is not a good marriage material anymore in her circle?) and who got burnt and is now pragmatic... and who slowly builds a stable relationship with Jihyuk... who doesn't believe in marriage, but with Boa he realises that it is possible to have a respectable relationship... and love comes to them after all... and they will become happy together. Oh well.

Everyone already has thier romantic pairing in my youth so unless they want to screw it up before the pairing happens, we are good.

Can you tell us a bit more about the symbolism of the peony flower/ how it relates to the Tang dynasty? I thought the theatrical performances were very well done in FP/ITB. A good variety with things like puppets, obviously done professionally. ( I get bored with the generic ' woman twirling dance performance' that is the c-drama standby)
Changing the subject, L of ZH was confusing me, I was up to Ep 9 but have had to go back to the beginning to try to sort people out. Will do a proper post soon.

Episode 5 and 6

The "it's not you" from Yeon-A to Seok-Hoon is right but that must hurt a lot. Honestly, I don't really trust her as a future mother, everything it's about her when she didn't want kid and now she's older, it looked more lire fear to be alone than a real desire to give birth to a new being.

Hyo-Min's sister sounded way too good for a deaf person. Yeah, they can read lips and talk but they can't sound as good as she did. And I hate when they act like lips reading can replace sign language.

I hope Min-Jeong won't take the divorce case (even I'm pretty sure she will) because she got a better life, she doesn't need to confront her ex again. I think moving on is sometime the best thing to do. The woman was shameless.

I wasn't expecting Na-Yeon to come back in the firm, I hope she will make their lives hell.

Yay for the Heo Nam Jun casting in Whale Star, at least 1/3 of the main characters will be played by an actor who actually fits the role...
Still hoping that at least one (in an ideal case both) of the other two actors declines the offer (though it's unlikely at this point)

Is it me or does anyone else think Good news should get the weirdest poster of 2025 award?🤨
My youth is looking so good like the scent of freshly baked bread or lemon vanilla, so please live up to expectations and be dreamy slice of normal life events with no stalker or toxic second female leads. (PLEASE, I BEG YOU).

My Lovely Journey: Episodes 5-6

by Dramaddictally

I have just properly looked at the main picture for the drama and Yeoreum and the CEO are standing closest with the agency staff and then the main lead so maybe My lovely journey is actually about the manager and Yeoreum’s journeys. Maybe the romance is meant to be a small part of the story and was used in the marketing as a hook for those who like romance in their slice of life dramas.

My Lovely Journey: Episodes 5-6

by Dramaddictally

Thanks @dramaddictally for the recap.

The fact noble idiocy is now being used against pets just highlights its stupidity. That poor dog was pinning at a point in life when he should be rewarded for his hard work. Why would he want to be wandering around a town with a random person when the only reason the town was special was because his owner had had a great time there.

I am not sure I like the Japanese woman, she kept translating what she wanted Yeoreum to know but not allowing Yeoreum to use the app to talk back to make it a two way conversation. She may have understood some of the Korean but I am sure not all of it. It was only after they met again later that Yeoreum had to literally take the matter into her own hands by using the app on her own phone.

That whole purse incident was weird it was as if the two women knew each other but didn’t like each other.

I like the idea of the townspeople purposefully lighting up their town for people on the mountaintop to have a spectacular view on that designated date.

I hope that we get to see more of the main leads now alongside the travel stories they are my main reason for watching . Yeoreum deserves a partner who is a friend and support encouraging from the sidelines whilst she has the space to grow at her own pace.

I don’t get the focus on the manager and his company. It was sad that he lost a daughter but do we need to have that padding when there is so much they could be exploring elsewhere with people we do care about?

My Lovely Journey: Episodes 5-6

by Dramaddictally

I think they messed up making him cruel ‘for her benefit’ in the initial episodes, dressing it up as him being a surrogate dad. We know that he has been supportive for the most part and fought for her when they were cancelling the show but the balance was off when she was sent off unprepared when she most vulnerable. It makes no sense to put these traits in a side character when there were enough natural events adding friction for her learning journey.

We barely see the male lead and yet we have a whole love triangle with the manager, his ex and the accountant taking centre stage. I don’t get why they felt this show needed all that going on in the background when we have the travel story of the week characters with their own angst going on.

This tsundere character trait is often over done and kept for too long so when played alongside a decent alternative it makes it hard to see why anyone would choose that person even when they finally show their other side. In this case she has a dad who seemed nice enough although her parents not allowing her to return unless she is successful means she has to prioritise proving herself to unimportant people rather than being able to recharge with the people who love her unconditionally and can help her out in a time of distress. She has he whole life ahead of her to be successful. Having a return home pit stop should not be tied to a need to have made it big so she has somewhere better to return to. The male lead is from a rich background yet he feels like a fish out of water there and would be more than happy to settle with our female lead on that small island. It’s like that drama Top star Yubaek where the small island is the place of peace and elements of life elsewhere pays the bills.

I’m disappointed that there’s no weekly recap for Beyond the Bar from DB. I’m really enjoying it. It’s ok, I’m not watching to view real court cases.

SMILE, YOU remains one of my all-time favorite Weekenders. Fun fact: The couple who formed the secondary romance in that drama actually did marry each other and now have a fourteen-year-old daughter.

@laurensophie I am so happy you enjoyed it! I just want to tell everyone about it cuz it is so damn good! The bullying is hard to watch, as it always is, but it is definitely not as extreme as The Glory and nothing like the endless beatings in Weak Hero. The intensity of the performances of the leads is just stunning! It is riveting from start to finish. It is going to be hard to try to repeat or top the essence of what this film captured. I once told a friend that what I want (and so rarely get) when I watch something is transcendence. Something that fully takes me out of myself and into another. This was that! And apparently I am not the only one. There are many people online asking for recommendations for movies/dramas like Better Days because they want to hold on to or repeat this relatively rare, sublime experience. I did just finish the other movie by the same director called Soul Mates. It was forgettable. So I can tell you that isn't it. For me, the only one that comes to mind as having a similar vibe is a little known movie on Netflix called A Night in Paradise. The main characters are adults, it's darker, bleaker, and more violent, but it still has that element of raw emotional beauty. And also that element of male beauty that is Uhm Tae Goo (pre My Sweet Mobster)! I will keep looking for transcendence and will share anything I find.

I got no idea what I'm doing here with these replies. I'm just winging it and tagging people in hopes that they get the message.

I might be totally out to lunch here, showcasing once again my ignorance, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Disney+ made a "Netflix" Song Kang-type decision to back Xu Kai as a bankable performer. I checked on Disney+ today (MR is still "Coming Soon") and noticed they have the live action MULAN with Liu Yi Fei, and she's certainly in that category.

I myself find Xu Kai interesting, as he can smoothly transition from comedy to drama. He's got something special going on the screen, and he's young with lots of road ahead of him. Hopefully MR isn't dubbed (ugh). And, it hasn't shown up yet on my Viki as Coming Soon.

I'm too new to the cdrama world to have experienced the agony of AJTL nightmare subtitles but I did experience this with the opening episodes of ETERNAL BROTHERHOOD on iQiyi and became incensed enough to file a complaint about the shoddy work which was probably machine generated. I'm sorry, but this is like diapering a baby, it can't be done by machines.

Sorry I know there are others ... looks like Viki pulled INTO THE RING out of "Leaving Soon" category. You can check on your own Viki feed, but that's what I'm seeing.

Good Job DB WWW fans of RING!
