Flowers For My Life: Episode 10

and i was trying to offer some of the many reasons this drama failed. because, let's face it, the only reason people don't watch it it not becuase of the death theme. i mean, kdramas have always played with death (i have eye cancer, i have leukimia).
and now that i think about it, you're absolutely right. the difference and the tone is not something you'd get in a ten minute sampling. but how do people watch tv? they change the channel and sample things, for say 5 minutes, and if they don't like it, they change the channel and watch something else. my man's woman started with ratings around 10 percent and went up to around 30 percent. why? becuase people sampled it for 10 minutes and liked it and kept the channel there. maybe some people even heard it was good and watched it. but if they hadnt liked it, they would have changed the channel. and as for it not being successful because of the competition, that's wrong. i mean this broke the lowest record for ratings, when my name is kim sam soon was hitting 50 percent ratings, its competitors still survived with ratings higher than 3 percent.
Simply put, some people like it (very few koreans) and some people dont. just dont simplify the reason to its theme.

thank you so much for your updates! i must say, i really enjoy this drama because the crisises are brief, and by the end of the next episode, problems are solved. i know that it's not like the other korean dramas, but being a fan of shows like "law & order," i prefer dramas that don't drag on. i also adore LJJ, and i'm pleased that CJW isn't playing the usual damsel-in-distress role in a sob story. air city definately has some really good looking actors in it! kudos to the casting director! :0)

reading your version makes me believe you are a better writer than those who are scripting it right now. i'm dissapointed in their lack of organization and fluidity in the storyline. no wonder the drama is not even ranked in the top 10. i think you should write to the writers with your ideas so they can get on top of things!

Bad Couple: Episode 6

Javebeans, once again THANK YOU for doing such a great job summerizing these episodes!

I started watching because I thought DANG JA and GI CHAN was such interesting couple. The thought of an independent woman wanting a baby without a man is so refreshing. To throw in a twist she starts to like (or fall in love w/) him. They both are funny and the chemistry between them is just right. I can't wait to see more!! Gosh, the Christmas tree was to die for. Lucky Dang Ja!!!!

Then, in eposide 5 & 6 I also turned to like the story line between YOUNG and JOON SOO. My heart really aches for Young. When will she realize that she is so much more worthy & too good for the f#####g a##h### husband of hers. When will she start to laugh and show us all what she was like before she was drained from all her happiness. I hope she finds the courage and strength to move on with her life. What can I say about Joon Soo? His voice...LOVE IT!!!

By the way, did you gals see in episode 4 where Young walked in on her husband and son and the home wrecker! He pushed his son aside to go after that 'thing' instead of comforting his wife & son. Con Suck really does suck! What a jerk!!!!!!

The two kids are super cute!!!!!

War of Money / Money Warfare

I had the same initial reaction. It was quite maddening. I was going to stop without even finishing the first episode. How that quickly changed. It's an interesting critique on individual greed for money and many facets of the Korean social norm. There were many religiously significant scenes. Destruction of the pagoda after the mother's death: You shall have no other gods before Me. Na Ra's drunking tirade and his citation of the Camel and the Eye of a Needle. Na Ra, after finding out that his loan-shark boss was responsible for his father's debt, steals a street umbrella. He rests the umbrella on the back of his neck with his arms on each side (much like Christ on the cross). He then shouts that he will judge everyone. There is more.... In the end, I suspect the writer's intent is to convey his religious message to the nation (or na ra). I find this drama thought provoking.
