_ Western show Upload, season 3 (2023). This show had a very good first season but then unfortunately it went downhill. Now I'm waiting for the fourth and final season.

This kind of drama puts me in a tricky spot. You start watching because you love the A-list actors, but then you find yourself stuck with a subpar plot. That's why I never really comment on actors themselves; it's always about the characters they play, since you can't truly know the actor. As for the comedy, I'm not sure if it was the show or if my sense of humour is just off. Anyway, I decided to drop it; it just wasn't how I wanted to spend my weekend.

I really like Tian Xi Wei and haven't started Moonlit Reunion yet. I'm glad she's doing a great job!

Law and the City: (half-way through ep 3) Started this. It's pleasant and the meals the lawyers lunch group have a nice Hospital Playlist-esque feel. The characters aren't quite that interesting yet, but I feel like they're grounded. I like that they aren't superstar attorneys. I was bummed that the lawyer played by Kim Kyung-Nam left his job and the lunch gang. He had great chemistry with them!

Prisoner of Beauty (cdrama, partway through ep 26) Still enjoying it, but it feels weird (and surprisingly pleasant) that it's actually more of a warm, domestic drama with a careful dash of rom-com. Song Su Er delivers the best side-eye/disdainful expressions.

Legend of the Female General (cdrama, up to ep 9). Not what was really promoted. So far, it's like an average-idol-web-drama with very surface-level writing. That said, it's still quite watchable (gets better after ep 4). The fight/stunt choreography and direction of the action scenes are fantastic, and there are quite a lot of those scenes to keep me satisfied. I may just be FF-ing to the fight/action scenes.

I enjoyed your review of Lost! It earned a 10 from me because of it's original concept and exceptional acting and production quality. It was heartbreaking but healing. Viewers definitely need to be prepared for the slow burn and the agonizing (mental and emotional) journey of the characters.

I had the same reaction to the former coach in The Winning Try. The rugby would be more entertaining if we actually saw more of it. This story is so off-track from what it could/should have been.

Was that a deliberate choice or did it just work out that way?!

WATCHING
Love, Take Two.
Picked this back up again. It's an easy watch with a healthy dose of old k-drama vibes. The exploration of motherhood is k-drama lite, but it works. The story teeters on the edge of melodrama but never quite goes over. Plus, who knew Yang Kyung Won could pull off a believable surf bum at the age of 44?! He's clearly in his prime 🙃

My Girlfriend Is the Man!.
The silliness has fully shifted into seriousness, and weirdly, despite the fantasy setup, the situation feels real. The choice made by Kim Jong Hoon's character was a well-done surprise this week. I'm really curious which direction the writer has taken for the ending as we move into the finale. We're definitely getting a time skip.

The Winning Try.
Sigh.

Moonlit Reunion c-drama.
😍🤫😂

RE-WATCH
Into the Ring.
Enjoying episodes one at a time like it's a box of chocolates... so I can appreciate all the li'l details.

FINISHED (forgot this last week)
Law and The City.
I really enjoyed this drama. I rarely watch law dramas because the intense cases make my heart pound, so the lighter fare here was perfect for me. The story never strays from its easy pace, and despite a few incomplete/abandoned storylines, they wrapped it up well. Yes, the main leads were a little bland, but it was the ordinariness of their everyday lives that made this appealing and different. The art direction was a highlight. One of my faves this year - and I wasn't even planning on watching it.

STARTING
The Tyrant's Chef.
It's always fun when there's drama before the drama, amiright?! Let's see what happens.

Enjoy the week ahead beanies! 😉

I really loved Feud, even though many elements were uneven (including the CGI). The story was really king here. It carried the flaws in the rest of the production.

Agreed on Love, Take Two... but perhaps the focus is meant to be on LOVE vs. romance.

Hi Beanies!

What I am watching:

_ Our Golden Days (4 out of 50). Episodes 3 and 4 are much better than the first two, in my opinion. I didn't find them slow or boring, and the characters gradually become more interesting. The ML is not someone likeable, but he is not a tsundere, nor a red flag. He is simply not very nice. I'm more curious about his best friend and what his story and plot will be.

_ High Kick Through the roof (2009) (90 out of 126). I'm yet with my sitcom, but watching slowly because I'm sad to be finishing it.

_ My troublesome star (First episode). As I mentioned in the recap, I quite liked the parts set in 1999, but the series lost a lot in the part set in 2025, so I think I'll leave it there for now. I'll probably read the recaps. I want to know if the younger versions of the main couple will have more screen time. Lee Min Jae is adorable.

C-Dramaland:

I've started watching Moonlit Reunion and When Destiny brings the Demon. It took me several days to start them because Viki released them a bit late in Europe.
I'm not going to live-watch both shows, but I wanted to check out at least the first episodes so I could decide which one to watch now:

_ C-drama Moonlit Reunion (Episodes 1 and 2). I admit that the plot doesn't interest me much at this moment, but visually the series is gorgeous, that's indisputable.

_ C- drama When Destiny brings the Demon (Episodes 1 and 2). It has started light and funny. The FL's behaviour is understandable and even relatable. The first episode is a good introduction to the characters and the situation, but the second episode fills in some of the missing information about the ML, and the comedy moments are on point. I'm not a huge fan of xianxias, but I think it could be quite an entertaining series.
The episodes fly by, so I'll keep watching it on air.

_ Western animated series Pantheon, based on an original story by Ken Liu (3 out of 16). Wow. The animation is far from being good but the script is excellent.

What I have finished:

_ C-drama The Imperial Coroner (2021). Even though it's a low-budget production (and it shows), the script more than makes up for it. It's a very well-written series, very interesting, and much more complex than it initially seemed. The main characters are a nice group of nerds, and I like the relationship between the four. I'll definitely watch the second season.

_ J-drama Animals (2022). This J-drama is a pleasant surprise. Everything feels very natural, there's little exaggeration (so typical of J-dramas and animes), and the characters and situations are quite believable. The music and songs are good too. The only downside is that the costumes and overall styling are incredibly strange. In this series, I've seen clothes and clothing combinations that I thought were quite ugly, honestly. I found it incredible that the characters actually liked those looks.

_ Western show Upload, season 3 (2023). This show had a...
