Hyun Young began her entertainment career as a supermodel in the 1990s. In 1998, she landed a supporting role in the SBS romance drama Song of the Wind. In 2005, she appeared in the SBS series Biscuit Teacher Star Candy. Also in 2005, she became a fixed cast member of the KBS2 variety show Heroine 6. In 2006, she recorded the hit song Nuna’s Dream, which was the Korean version of O-Zone’s pop song Dragostea Din Tei. She then starred in the films My Wife Is a Gangster 3 and The Perfect Couple, which were released in 2006 and 2007, respectively. In May 2007, she dropped her follow-up single Love Revolution, a cover of the song Renai Revolution 21 by the Japanese girl group Morning Musume. That same year, she joined another KBS2 variety program called High-Five.


Hyun Young married her non-celebrity boyfriend in March 2012. She gave birth to a daughter in August of that year. In 2013, she was ordered by the court to pay an ₩8 million fine for propofol abuse. In 2017, she and her husband welcomed a son into their family.
