Hwang Bora debuted as an actress in 2003. In 2007, she became part of the black comedy film Skeletons in the Closet, which won her Best New Actress at both the 8th Busan Film Critics Awards and the 10th Director’s Cut Awards. In 2008, she gained the nickname “cup noodle girl” after her appearance in a popular ramyun commercial. In 2011, she joined the main cast of the MBC revenge series Dangerous Women.


In 2012, Hwang Bora played Shin Mina’s quirky psychic sidekick in MBC’s Arang and the Magistrate, which earned her an Excellence Award nomination at the MBC Drama Awards. In 2018, she acted alongside Park Seo-joon and Park Min-young in the hit tvN romantic comedy What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim. In 2019, she was nominated for the Best Character Award at the SBS Drama Awards for her work in Vagabond.


Hwang Bora majored in theater and film at Dongguk University. In November 2022, she married Kim Young-hoon, also known as Cha Hyun-woo, the CEO of her management agency and the younger brother of actor Ha Jung-woo. In May 2024, the couple welcomed their first son.
