10. Above the Time (IU) – Clever sequel I never knew I needed – a beautiful continuation that builds an even more complex, beautiful world
9. 365 (Loona) – I need another year with these vocals – a beautiful ballad highlighting their vocal strength
8. Stay Beautiful (Jimin Park) – If you say so with that voice – a wonderful message with a well-controlled voice
7. Wonderland (Ateez) – Where can I buy a ticket? – a power anthem brought to life by 8 very charismatic men
6. Monologue (Taemin) – Grab your tissues – a dual-meaning song about a lover lost or possibly a loved one lost that reaches to your heart by an emotional performance
5. Orange Drive (Bang Yongguk) – Road trip always moving onward – a meaningful song from someone always digging deeper into the meaning of living
4. Ain’t That Pretty (Ailee) – Rock what you got – a self-love anthem presented by someone who gets it
3. I Wanna Be (Key) – Don’t we all? – an addictively awesome bop with a fun video and dance
2. Hala Hala (Ateez) – Let me grab my megaphone – a perfect representation of how to combine strong vocals, strong rap, and strong performance
1. Love Poem (IU) – A song needed to be heard – a timely song that speaks to those needing relief and to those giving it by a woman who has shown strength and poise in the face of tragedies
Me too. IU is just remarkable and I’m glad that 2019 has been a very good year for her. Blueming was a particular favorite and accompanied me a lot during my commute to and from the office. All other songs in her album have been gems, mainly because of IU’s writing.
I definitely want to buy her album! I’m sure it would be on repeat. She’s really proven herself as a strong songwriter over the years. I can’t wait to see what more she’ll have for us.
