I’m like a child swinging punches in the air with closed eyes
Like a dog barking out of fear

Everything unfamiliar feels strange
Everything strange becomes scary
And so … what’s unfamiliar becomes something scary that I must avoid
I’m scared again
That I’ll look unfamiliar to others, strange to others
So, I’m desperately trying to be like everyone else

That someone will get hurt by the punch
I throw with eyes closed
And I’m scared that I might not be the good person that I think I am”
