He expected the cat to leave.
He is just emotionally unavailable or chooses to not form bonds with another living.
Why?? It could be a simple answer that he was an orphan/emotionally unavailable etc etc or he is a man with a tendency to kill and so stays away from the living.

If he had a tendency to kill I don’t think he’d stay away from his urges. He’d have to give in eventually. Which makes me hope (since the cat is alive and no new murders) that he’s not a killer but that he may be emotionally stunted which is why he’s so manipulative. He can’t trust people so he uses them instead.

And the way he looks for the cat in the terrace. Kanga!! Did he almost worry the cat is gone even though he wanted the cat to leave.

Because they have to scare us. Animals, especially cats, and potential killers do not mix.

We have all heard too many stories of the “He was a quiet child, but the neighborhood cats kept disappearing. “

True, true! I think they are definitely trying to build the tension by showing us the cat in one scene and making it seem like the cat isn’t there anymore (when they panned the camera to show the orange box? outside Moo young’s room. I thought that Moo young had definitely done something to the cat and threw it inside… Or something.
