Thought it was just a coincidence after watching Moonlight Drawn By Clouds and Reply 1988 but Hello Monster/I Remember You is the third in a list I’ve watched of PBG dramas that has this theme.
One of his very old dramas was Wonderful Mama, where he is one of three children raised by a single mother. But, she is diagnosed with Altzheimers, so *spoiler* (minor, it is the premise of the drama), he ends up living without his mother in the end with his little sibling family. Kinda fits the mold of his dramas without a mother, but also kinda with a mother.

Park Bo Gum seems to be drawn to characters who have lost their mothers/family some way.
