Ghost Doctor: Fantastic show! A blast to watch. Rain and Kim Bum really sold this premise, and both have totally won me over. Loved the supporting characters too, excellent ensemble.
I never manage to finish that one. I could not get my head around the writing of Rain’s main love interest… whatever her name may be. Cry me a river skinny neurotic girl is written according to the usual trope of “everyone is telling me how incredibly brilliant she is because the writer is unable to show me that she is, in fact, not an incapable, weak and sobbing git”
The writing definitely didn’t serve her, but there were more occasions as the show went on where she was given more to do and the actress proved she was more than up for the task. I view the character more as a missed opportunity than a show-ruiner. And there was enough that I just loved about this drama I could overlook a few shortcomings.
Oh completely. I was ranting about the character, not the actress (because she wasn’t given any decent material to work with in the drama). More often than not, my problem is the writing.
They brought 2 female characters in the plot and none was given anything that would be deemed worthy of being a lead. It was mostly a case of Rain & Kim Bum being written as the main couple, and then some pretty flowers with nothing of value to do scattered around to pretend there could be a love interest… The plot would have been much stronger without.
I really liked the idea of the show and the bromance and partnership between the 2 male doctors. (technically 3 male doctors, even though one of them is a ghost)
This just seemed to be the main storyline and the actual romance element felt like an afterthought (can came with the subtlety of a brick in the face too… writer-nim, what was all that about?)

I loved Ghost Doctor for the bromance—could have totally lost the romance and you would have missed nothing.
