My disappointment in Lovely Runner had me trying to think about when the last really popular/mainstream drama I truly enjoyed watching live was. I think it was back in 2022, with Twenty Five, Twenty One, Business Proposal, and My Liberation Notes. How was that two years ago?!?
I think I’m doomed to be a kdrama hipster forever. 😶
Aren’t the only shows you list that were really popular mainstream successes My Dearest and Knight Flower?
I watched the first ep of The Matchmakers and thought it was bad… Knight Flower was fine but I had no desire to continue. I don’t like sageuks lol and I dropped Twinkling Watermelon, although I appreciate it as a show and it was definitely better than Lovely Runner.
MatchMakers did well enough globally, but was very popular here. That it’s finale was on Christmas Day was also a real experience.
But that was also for me, @mindy, the last show that I liked that a lot of other Beanies liked–all the way to the end anyway. Wedding Impossible is a good example of a show that started weird, got really quite good, and then ended catastrophically.

Didn’t you like The Matchmakers, My Dearest or Knight Flower?
I enjoyed them. They are good shows (different types of sageuks).
And Twinkling Watermelon?

Like, I really really want to watch Midnight Romance, but the more people rave about it, the more apprehensive I get! 😄

Please, tell me where are the people that talk about Hagwon, because I’m searching for them desperately. 😭 The fan wall is making me feel lonely. 🥺

🤔 I keep seeing people talk about it. Maybe it’s more on the WWW threads…?

It wasn’t popular, though, here or beyond, unfortunately, for @mindy!
