(Sorry that I keep posting things that are decidedly NOT about Korean dramas lmao)
I have very belatedly been bit by the Olivia Rodrigo bug–don’t get me wrong, I’ve always liked the songs of hers I’d heard (Good For U is a banger every time I hear it played) but I’d never actually listened to Sour or Guts as full albums before recently and it’s so easy to understand how her popularity has transcended generations. I’m just rehashing what every critic has been saying for 3 years now, but she really writes the angsty teenage experience in a way where you remember how you felt as a teenager AND how, deep down, you often still feel today. And her songs are funny, too. I am really excited to hear how she matures as an artist as she gets older. It’s crazy to me that she’s only 21.
I honestly can’t remember the last time a popular young female artist had a truly rock edge to her music and I love it.
This isn’t my favorite song off of Guts, but I fear that “The morning after I panic, oh god, what did I say?” and “Each time I step outside, it’s social suicide” will never stop being relatable, lmao.
