Oh man, I hated that article. I don’t think the author of that book actually understood P&P (especially based on what she wrote about Lydia – Darcy tried to talk her out of being with Wickham!) Jane Austen is hardly responsible for the tsundere archetype and I would argue that she has the most healthy, non-toxic male leads of most romance writers (I know Austen isn’t technically romance but whatever, functionally she is). Also, I think it’s infantilizing and insulting to women to say that they can’t separate fiction from reality.

She should just go write about the Brontรซ male characters 🤢 smh
