I just read through the recap of Reply 1988 episode 18 and found almost 800 comments. Just so you know, it’s the episode Jung-hwan fake confessed his feelings for Deuk-sun. Right now, I don’t know which team I stand for, because what is the use of standing for a team who did not win at the end? 😫 But how much I did love Jung-hwan! He was the most cutest marshmallow I have ever watched.

Surprisingly, I don’t think Team Jung-hwan has healed off the trauma, have we? I have not and decided to relive the beautiful pain I felt for a character whose heart I shared.

I went into reply fully knowing the end-game and the shipping wars, and becos i love PBG I didn’t really mind. As the story progressed tho, i flip-flopped between the two and maybe rooted for JH a bit more. To me, that fake confession was the worst thing ever! Not only did he not get the girl, he never even got to tell her his true feelings even once. That’s just sad.. so I don’t like that scene.

I dreaded watching that scene again. It was painful. Something tells me Deuk-sun knew he was sincere during that confession.

I think she knew, too, and that’s why she had that frozen look on her face. I liked how they juxtaposed the scene of Jung-bong waiting at the coffee shop and looking up each time the bell on the door chimed because he was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his date and how they showed Deuk-sun looking at the door each time it chimed (even during Jung-hwan’s confession) to show that her mind was occupied eagerly awaiting the arrival of Teak. I used to hurt more for Jung-hwan. I love his character, but we get to see so much more of his heart than Deuk-sun does. I keep thinking that if he’d been nicer to her to taken the chance to be softer with her in the car ride together on the way to meet the others at the bar, I would have felt worse for him. There they are, just the two of them, talking about old times and favorite music… he could have been sweet to her, but instead he is harsh and corrects her constantly. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to spend my life married to someone who picks on every little thing and can’t be soft with me. She doesn’t know how sweet he is with is mom, because he never let her see that side of himself.

sometimes misunderstandings can be such a boon..
when i watched this series, it had just ended its run. And, i knew that there is a “who’s the husband” game in this as well.

In the drama, this is what was happening… DS liked SW, had a crush on him, got rejected, moved onto JH.. had a crush on him.. looked like got rejected.. I honestly thought she would keep going through these cycles with each one of the four friends 😛

While the clues in ep 1-3 were fairly obvious (in my view), i had all the more reasons to believe that twist ending means genuine twist ending – until ep 2/3 my very real fear was that the end game is her and the fourth friend (with specs, tutor’s child, the singer )… ha ha.. so i was quite grounded in terms of no matter whom she ends with

( lucky for me my guess was right)

I find comfort that RJY and Hyeri are together irl 😅 buuut that does not lessen the pain I felt for Junghwan

I heard others said it did, but I was more attached to them in the drama than IRL. Their characters was so fleshed out that there’s absolutely no way you won’t feel something for them.

Still in deep, agonizing pain over that scene. And Jung-hwan’s character in general.

Lucky for you, you got your healing. If I had, I wouldn’t have posted this here. I’m still bleeding 😫
