So I was finally able to continue Be Melodramatic after one year. It’s one of those dramas that will hit you hard once you’re in that same point of time (kinda like Misaeng and BTLIOF)
Last year I lost interest to continue it, but now I’m binge-watching it like there’s no tomorrow. Similar to my experience watching Misaeng haha. I watched Misaeng when I was still in college, and although it was an emotional ride, I wasn’t able to fully invest myself in the show.
Watching it now, I can totally understand the characters, as I have experienced what they have gone through. I don’t think dramas should always be relatable for a viewer to love it, but there’s an added extra charm when a show tells you that other people also experience your pain, and that you are not alone.
I do think dramas like Misaeng and Be Melodramatic make more sense when you’re in the situation /struggle but unlike I can’t watch them when in the situation. Even if they are realistic, I like them better seeing it from a third person perspective rather than” oh that is happening to me” because then it can get very draining (not Be Melo really, I thought it was fun all along but yes Misaeng). Rarely do I prefer indulging deep in the sorrow like I did with My Ajusshi.
