For me, one of the most heart-warming scenes this year was at the end of episode 10 in Weather, when Eun-soeb comes back to the family home after having spent the day with his estranged uncle and questioning where he belongs in the world – only to find his infuriated and frightened little sister who, in one of the most realistic sibling confrontations, manages to tell him in the same breath that she loves him and hates him at the same time. The new bike saddle she’s been coveting is his gift to her, but her unvarnished love and possessiveness of her oppa is her gift to him – and the look on his face when his voiceover gently says, No, I’m not leaving, was just one of the most beautiful drama moments for me this year.
2020 Round Up Day 20 – the cameo that blew your mind
I don’t know that I have one for this category, at least not for a 2020 drama. I did watch Hotel del Lunain 2020, and I happened to watch it about the time that I was watching IOTNBO – so the cameo of Kim Soo-hyun at the end was fun. The slick, smoldering, whisky-drinking ghost was a far cry from the sober, downtrodden yet sweet Moon Gang-tae I’d become used to.
Me, too! It’s one drama I’d be 100% on board with them doing a second season for – the premise is loose enough that they could truly do a whole other character arc.
My favourite scene as well!!
It may be the fact that I miss my sister, as we’ve barely seen each other this year, but the moment I watched it I just felt all the love these two siblings share, although they would never confess it (at least for a long time). Also the sweet flashbacks that are shown just before this scene (EunSeob watching for hours Hwi in her cradle and him being delighted when he shows the beetle to his proud mum) set the mood for what we are going to see.
Yes, it’s so lovely how they weave those flashbacks into Eun-seob’s overall arc. It was subtle but so beautiful to me how it’s so obvious that his family loves him so much and how he slowly by the end is finally able to receive and accept this gift and starts intentionally reciprocating. It warmed my soul to watch that unfold.
