that’s really interesting, thanks for the link! I haven’t kept up with anime much since I got into kdrama, but there were a couple of things I was staying up to date with. I think part of the fansubbers’ function is a lot like drama fansubbers – they provide something that isn’t otherwise available, or more quickly than something is officially licensed and translated. I’ve seen other groups shut down over the years (manga scanlation as well as anime fansubs) for legal reasons, but this seems somewhat different for *not* being that.
I wouldn’t be averse to the kocowa-style youtube channel if it had good content!

Just found out that Horrible Subs, one of the few remaining anime fansubbers, have closed down 😭

They said that covid drove them to it, pretty much. I hope once things are better, they’ll be able to get back on their feet 🙁
