Indeed. And the example she gave blew my mind–but at the same time, I’ve known of similar cases. For a language learner like me, it’s a reminder of the extra effort one needs to make and the pitfalls one may not have realized that are as big as they are that one needs to avoid if learning the language is one’s goal. Something your parents seem to have understood.
