Just another way 2020 is a strange year… If you’d told me a year ago that a late season post about Stranger 2 would have 78 comments but a weecap for a show about introverted musicians falling in love would have 293 comments, I would not have believed you! I love both shows but this side by side always makes me laugh.
Stranger has never been a crowd pleasing show. S1 had only around one hundred comments each recap. Not only in DB, the discussion and rating for both seasons are significant lower than many rom-com in every platforms. In the sea of feel good and fluffy shows, do we need a show that makes us feel confused, frustrated and raises many questions we couldn’t answer like Stranger? Definitely YES
@blacksesame I love Stranger 1 and 2, but it’s true that I don’t always post because I just know that I won’t know what’s up until they decide to tell me. And not in a bad way. Some shows have a suspect come out of nowhere and it feels cheap and like lazy writing. Stranger is the opposite. It will all make sense eventually, but I won’t figure it out until it’s ready to reveal itself. Season 1 had so many great shocks and twists and I’m just along for the ride with season 2. I’m sure there will be lots to talk about once we know what was going on!
Stranger 1 is considered a masterpiece but its rating is still lower than many more hyped drama. My point is It’s not a surprise that it is less talked about than some other feel good shows. I am just happy that they produced Stranger and now season 2 because we NEED this type of shows.
Stranger 1 is easily in my Top 5 shows of all time. I didn’t watch it when it aired, though. I think a lot of people watched it over the next year or so and fell in love. It is for sure a classic. There was so much excitement and fervor about Stranger 2, that you’d expect its ratings and stuff to be higher than the original, because the original had years to build up a really large, solid fan base.

Sorry if I capital “Need” in my previous reply. I read it and it didn’t come across very nice :))
