So I have been in this super funk, drama wise. Watching Backstreet Rookie and Men are Men. But not really feeling them. So I looked back on my to watch list and thought, why not watch Goblin and see what that the hype was all about. Well down the rabbit hole I fell and watched 16 episodes in a week. And what do I have to say for myself is that, I probably should have picked another drama to watch. Now don’t get me wrong, the premise of the story was interesting. An immortal being falling in love with a human is a story of the ages. But I feel the execution was flawed. I know this has probably been said when the show aired, but I missed the hype during that time. Did they have to use a high schooler as the FLs character? I know her age progresses with the show and the actress is not of school age, but for some reason it bothered me here than in most other shows. I did like most of the side characters and their stories. I would have wanted more character development on some of the other characters and less watching the leads cry. Bc man was this show depressing. Also for a show about immortals there was a lot of unnecessary dying. Definitely not something I would normally pick as a summer watch… Maybe I should have waited till the fall or winter to watch it. I am glad I can say I watched it. But really wished this would have helped my drama funk. Now to search for something else to whatch. I’m open to suggestions.

I watched Goblin after it aired and while I LOVE the bromance, and Gong Yoo is wonderful, I find the drama pretty lackluster. As you said, the execution of the show was very flawed. I definitely enjoyed some of it, but I think it’s pretty average.

    “a lot of unnecessary dying”
Picture me rolling my eyes non-stop episodes 14-16.

Overall: I loved the OST, enjoyed the bromance (GIF gold mine!) and secondary romance, as well as the Goryeo flashbacks. I didn’t care for the OTP at all. The story was just so … slow and meandering. I could have watched Episodes 1-4, 11-13, and 16, and that would have covered everything.

I agree maybe they should have just made it a movie.

    — The ongoing but delightful rom-com (the best I’ve seen in ages) – Memorials/Into the Ring!!! I can’t recommend it enough.

    — If you want something thriller-y, Nobody Knows.

    — If you want makjang in 16 eps, My Unfamiliar Family.

Thanks for the suggestions @pickleddragon and @eazal. I don’t know, Memorials just isn’t calling to me. I feel it may be too over the top. I must have missed No Body Knows when it was promoting. I didn’t even recall it. I will look into it.

I’ve watched Oh, my Venus recently and it’s a nice and light rom-com, it could be a good summer watch

Have you watched Mystic Pop-up Bar? In older dramas maybe Chief Kim or You’re Beautiful?

Loved Mystic Pop Up Bar. That was my last good one. Chief Kim is on my to watch list. But I ended up watching Misaeng. Only ep1 and I am sad but in a good way.
