Seo Hyun-jin, Yoo Yeon-seok

It’s been 8 years since Seo Hyun-jin (The Trunk) and Yoo Yeon-seok (When the Phone Rings) were paired in Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim and MBC is now angling for a reunion in a new series called Liar. If the stars align, this time only Yoo will be in a doctor’s coat as a widowed parent, while Seo is up to play his son’s teacher. With both actors currently reviewing their offers, production is discussing a 2026 release. [EDaily, My Daily]

Han Hyo-joo (Blood Free) has reportedly been cast in a new romance on SBS called Your Ground, becoming a big shot lawyer and sports agent. She’ll then meet our story’s underdog baseball player, helping to put his career on the upswing. And presumably, there’ll be some love action as well. The drama is still in the early stages, with writer Hwang Hae-yeon attached to the project to pen the scripts. [My Daily]

Over on KBS, Jung Il-woo (Good Job) and Jung In-sun (DNA Lover) are batting at love in Our Golden Days, continuing promos with the latest batch of stills. Also starring Yoon Hyun-min (Bora! Deborah) among other talents in the family drama cast, the weekender is set to follow For Eagle Brothers, premiering next month on August 9. [10 Asia]
Netflix’s Trigger came out with a new poster, showcasing our two leads who similarly but dissimilarly wield weapons: police officer Kim Nam-gil (The Fiery Priest 2) and weapons broker Kim Young-kwang (The Haunted Palace). The action-thriller unfolds on July 25, telling its story over 10 episodes, with both directing and scripts by filmmaker Kwon Oh-seung (Midnight). [MBC]

A heavy tale awaits us on MBC’s Mary Kills People as well, grimly toasting to death in the crime-medical’s first poster. Entangling Lee Bo-young (Hide), Lee Min-ki (Crash), and Kang Ki-young (Queen of Divorce) in this black comedy, the Canadian series remake is slated to premiere on August 1, broadcasting in the weekend slot. Thankfully for softies like me, SBS is sending Yoon Kye-sang (The Frog) to lighten the weekend mood, building team morale in the newest stills for the upcoming The Winning Try. With our high school rugby team struggling in last place, we’ll be following Yoon – along with Im Se-mi (My Dearest Nemesis) and Kim Yo-han (School 2021) – when their journey of growth begins on July 25. 1. Still one of ny favorite kdrama pairings, he is a cardiothoracic surgeon, wooo, I do appreciate that more single parents are getting their shine in kdramas. Let's also do single mothers.

4. Looking forward to Korea's dystopian nightmare and America's reality.

5.Didn't see the the OG, but will try this.

6. Will watch for Im Se Mi cosplaying as our favorite Turkish shooter.

1. Is this an adaptation of the British series? I haven't seen that one, but the premise and character descriptions seem to line up, and the story does sound very intriguing (and very dark). Definitely doesn't sound like your ordinary Korean drama though.

2. I like Han Hyo-joo, and this premise does sound fun.

3. I've been wanting to watch a weekender for the longest time, but I've never even started one. Will this one be the first?

5. Excited for this one. Didn't see the original, but I hope they don't mess it up, especially with a theme like this.

6. Something about that title just doesn't sound right. I don't like it.

@kay4625 On 6, if you are talking about the inspirational rugby show, since a "try" is one of the ways of scoring in rugby (as you might know, a try is when a player crosses the opponents goal line and presses the ball to the turf), "the winning try" is probably a very appropriate title-- although I guess if the message was that the team was inspirational because they worked hard and scored, even though they lost the match, they could have gone for a more intriguing English title, "Try And Lose"

1. I'm definitely going to watch this one. There is the kind of romance pairing you'd see and you immediately know it is going to be a success. This is one of those.
2. Who is the stylist that committed that abominable act in the first picture of Jung Il-woo? And who is the camera person who thought it was okay to snap from that angle?

No. 3. KBS’s OURGOLDEN DAYS (which I have already ranted on) but look what ‘they’ did to Kim Nam-gil’s hair in
No. 4 Netflix’s TRIGGER. Terrible 2! KNG is 45 years old in RL. He has a high school boy’s cut up there. Compare that look up there with KNG’s look in SBS’s THROUGH THE DARKNESS (2022):

KNG's pretty locks in TTD proved to be too deadly for criminals weak heart, so he had to cut them to spare the lawless population))) Hopefully this will also help some of us me to focus more on actual plot, but no promises yet^^

Lol, good example why eye witnesses are so unreliable. You might have had poor PHS locked up! I believe the good looking guy with great hair (obviously not KNG in this instance) in the TRIGGER pic above is: Kim Young-kwang.

I also miss KNG a lot. I even watched that failed drama, Song of the Bandits. But I didn't watch Fiery Priest nor Island.
But my motivation to watch Trigger is very low now. Action thrillers are not my cup of tea.

I am hoping for the sports kdrama magic touch (LFIS (2023/24) and RACKET BOYS (2021) to strike in 2025 with TRY.
In the past I passed on KNG’s wildly popular FP because I am a little touchy about mixing religion and drama. Personal thing.

I might check it out if both Seo Hyun-jin and You Yeon-seok agree to be in a same project again! I loved their chemistry when they starred together opposite one another in Romantic Doctor. I loved it when YYS played a morally-grayish, self-centered, and smexy character. I like him more in these roles than in roles that he's a completely devoted and loving boyfriend or husband. The same goes for Kim Seon-ho and Lee Jun-young.
