News bites: May 21, 2025

  • The first stills have dropped for tvN’s fantasy romance Head Over Heels, showcasing our story’s main young trio: teenage shaman Jo Yi-hyun (The Matchmakers), her misfortune-ridden first love Choo Young-woo (The Trauma Code – Heroes on Call), as well as her bestie Cha Kang-yoon (Resident Playbook). Broadcasting in the Monday-Tuesday slot, the webtoon-adaptation will follow Second Shot at Love this June. [Sports Donga]

  • New posters for JTBC’s Good Boy have come in with a colorful splash, recruiting Park Bo-gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines) and Kim So-hyun (Serendipity’s Embrace), in addition to Lee Sang-yi (Spice Up Our Love), Heo Sung-tae (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers), and Tae Won-seok (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers). Using their sports talents to put baddies behind bars, the action-comedy unfolds on weekends starting May 31. [Sports Donga]

  • Although there are villains afoot on ENA as well, they’ll soon be quaking in their boots when Lee Shi-young (Sweet Home 3), Jung Young-joo (When the Stars Gossip), Dasom (Serendipity’s Embrace), and Nam Ki-ae (Blood Free) form an unlikely quartet of heroes in the mystery-comedy’s first teaser. Together creating a Salon de Holmes, the series will be coming to our screens on June 16. [Newsen]
  • Also fighting the good fight, Wavve has students Lee Jung-ha (The Auditors) and Kim Do-wan (Wedding Impossible) stepping up to become ONE – High School Heroes in the latest teaser. Adapted from a popular webtoon, the crime-action battle will be breaking out on May 30, next week. [Newsen]

  • Promos continue on U+ Mobile TV with a bundle of stills for Hunter with a Scalpel, entangling forensic pathologist Park Joo-hyun (Perfect Family) and detective Kang Hoon (Dear Hyeri), with murderer Park Yong-woo (Tracer). The suspense-thriller and novel adaptation will be premiering on June 16 and streaming internationally on Disney+. [Sports Donga (1), (2), (3)]
  • It’s a picture party today with stills released for SBS’s Our Movie as well, budding the first ~feelings~ for director Namgoong Min (My Dearest) and actor Jeon Yeo-bin (A Time Called You). Directed by PD Lee Jung-heum (Inspector Koo) with Han Ga-eun and Kang Kyung-min co-writing, there’s still some time to stock up on tissue before the melodrama begins on June 13. [News]

1) I like the casting. It's quite different of their last drama.

6) But just release it!

Lots to look forward to and spread over the week too. I am so glad the packed weekends and tumbleweed during the week days are a dim and distant memory.

1. If I was "misfortune-ridden" I think I would spend less time around arrows...

2. Finally some perfect action comedy vibes! I'm ready for this one to premiere at any moment.

I also noticed a lot of shows with high school settings - think we have had 4 or 5 already this year, and we are not even in June yet.....
