Lee Jung-jae plays one final Squid Game in Season 3 teaser
by lovepark
Netflix has dropped the first teaser for Squid Game 3, and after leaving the previous installment on a cliffhanger, fans of the show will finally get to see the end of this twisted game. With Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game 2, The Acolyte) returning as Sung Ki-hoon, he’s joined by plenty of friendly faces as well as a few hostile ones in his fight against Front Man Lee Byung-heon (Our Blues).
The teaser begins with a familiar tune and a slew of masked men carrying in a coffin wrapped in the show’s iconic pink bow. The other contestants watch with bated breaths as they approach, and inside the coffin is Ki-hoon. The rebellion has failed, but our hero remains alive.
The games continue, satisfying the cravings of the debauched elite in their ornate chamber and golden masks, while the contestants remain in their blood-splattered clothes. They each receive a ball from a gumball machine, splitting them into blue and red. This causes rifts in some groups like son Yang Dong-geun (Moving) separating from his mother Kang Ae-shim (Frankly Speaking), but in a world steeped in betrayal and greed, no alliance is safe.
In quick succession, we see a glimpse of Park Sung-hoon (Queen of Tears) getting ready to fight, Lee David (Law School) looking panicked, Kang Haneul (Curtain Call) eyeing over his shoulder, Park Kyu-young (Sweet Home 2) crawling through vents, and Lee Jin-wook (Dear Hyeri) being scanned.
On the outside, Wie Ha-joon (The Midnight Romance in Hagwon) continues his search, but will he make it in time to stop the games? As the players brace themselves for what is to come, the teaser ends with cries from a baby, possibly hinting at the child contestants Im Shi-wan (Boyhood) and Jo Yuri (Work Later Drink Now 2) might welcome into this hellscape.
Directed and written by Hwang Dong-hyuk (Squid Game), Netflix’s Squid Game 3 will return June 27.

I am probably one of the seventy-two people on Planet Earth that has NOT watched this show at all, but looking at all the cast members the show producers have assembled together, I may give it a shot and binge watch it once all 3 seasons are availbale on Netflix......just need to find a long weekend down the road to do this......

Make that 26 I am so not interested in this genre and the fact so many people quote this as the one Korean drama they have watched is so disappointing. I am sure there are lots of other dramas with similar themes that are more representative and would have been better examples to promote Korean tv.

I read a summary of the story when the first season came out, and what I understood was that it was a game for bored rich people to amuse themselves? This is something that particularly infuriates me, so I will never ever watch it.

I guess I'm kinda nr. 27 then. I mean, I tried it, but I couldn't even get past episode 2 because, quite frankly, I was bored. I actually love the whole "deadly games" premise of it all (mind you, Alice In Borderland is literally one of my favorite dramas), but I was just bored here and wasn't really invested in any of the characters.
It also doesn't help that some of the cast members themselves have done things that are... questionable. And that really just reinforced my decision to never watch it, no matters how much people praise it and say it's the best Korean drama ever (when they probably haven't seen much else from Korea).

Alice in Borderland is fantastic. Though, unfortunately, I am one of those seven billion people (minus 72) who actually enjoyed watching season 1 of Squid Game, and prefer it over Alice.
I have to give it to Alice for creativity and sheer terror of the games -- it's absolutely mind-boggling, and SG does not even approach it in that department. But I definitely liked character development and thriller aspect of SQ better. I often felt like Alice was too much to handle, emotionally and intellectually.

UH! So make that twenty five people! I agree, looking at the stellar cast I would love to think that I could watch this, but just not sure I can do it. I just tackled Weak Hero Class 1 and 2 and did ok, so maybe there is hope that I can watch it one day. Good luck if you try!

I thought the original Squid Games ended well but tacked on an unnecessary revenge quest. It was Netflix getting as greedy as the show characters. I was not interested in any of the sequels.

I am probably the only beanie that will watch it. I loved the first one and liked the secod season. I remember being so afraid during the games that I had fights within me if I should ff to see what happens or be strong and experience the thrill full on. The scary cat in me won at the glass tiles and the rope games, I must admit. I liked it because it made me realize that kdramas have that unique ability to thread all the elements that I liked in it: good and heartfelt human stories, the struggles of the poor people and decadence of the rich and powerful, the innocence of the kids game and the cruel fight of the survival that comes on later. The second one brought new characters with interesting lifestories and was interesting but the surprise element was not there since we could see it from the beginning. It was also a warm up for the third season so I didn't mind it at all. I look forward to it and even if the landing will not stick, although is hard to believe that it won't with so many good actors and hopefully it will be better than the first season, I will keep it as one of my favourites and one that I will surely watch again.

I enjoyed Season 1 immensely, and I thought it ended perfectly. everything about it was almost perfect, the plot, the creativity, the pacing, the mise en scene, the acting, the directing, etc. To this day, I think, nothing quite match it.
Season 2 and 3 are pure fuking cash grab. Season 2 featured too many characters that added nothing to the story. (Many of them were killed off, so, like, why were they even needed??) Perhaps, if they combined these 2 seasons, it would make sense, but nothing in 2 made sense. It was overly melodramatic, and many characters were "token" this and that, instead actually contributing to the story. (Granted, many season 1 characters were stereotypical but at least they made sense in the context of the game and its universe. They were there to impact each other to exert an emotional journey while in 2, I often wondered why this character even exists.)
I am reserving my harshest criticism until I watch season 3, but to anyone who hasn't watched season 2, I say this -- wait to binge 2+3 together -- maybe then it'll make more sense.
