Good Boy Park Bo-gum fights bad boy Oh Jung-se

JTBC’s comedy-action Good Boy has come swinging in with new promos, showcasing our ragtag ensemble cast – led by Park Bo-gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines) – in stills from the first script reading as well as the first official teaser.

Although the boxer-turned-cop Yoon Dong-joo (Park Bo-gum) is our title character, he isn’t our story’s only good boy – or person, I should say. Nor is he the only one to embark on a new career path as a former athlete with a shiny medal to their name. The trailer thus introduces us to a special police unit, assembling a quintet of various medalists, including, gold shooter Kim So-hyun (Serendipity’s Embrace), silver fencer Lee Sang-yi (Spice Up Our Love), bronze wrestler Heo Sung-tae (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers), and bronze discus thrower Tae Won-seok (Player 2 – Master of Swindlers).

We then read in the captions, that the five were all once legendary heroes in their respective sports fields. However, life has since taken a humbler turn and we’ll soon be following the melo, comedy, and action hijinks in their new day-to-day as police. Blink and you’ll miss the slippery Oh Jung-se (When Life Gives You Tangerines), the resident bad boy villain of this tale who our good team have to catch. Rest assured, a confident Dong-joo is determined to win, declaring that the round isn’t over until the opponent falls.

In supportive roles, the series also stars head of police Seo Hyun-chul (Villains Everywhere) and former boxing coach Jung Man-shik (Gangnam B-Side), in addition to pawnshop owner and police informant Park Chul-min (Romance in the House). We also have noodle restaurateur Seo Jung-yeon (Good Partner) and insurance sales rep Seo Jae-hee (The Kidnapping Day) who is also Hanna’s mom.

Directed by PD Shim Na-yeon (The Good Bad Mother, Beyond Evil) with scripts penned by Lee Dae-il (Chief of Staff, Life on Mars), JTBC’s Good Boy is slated to premiere on May 31, following Heavenly Ever After in the weekend slot.

I hope this is like Crash where the action and comedy were balanced just right and we grew to love our special unit and their skillset.

This sure seems like a winner. Hopefully all the Good Team members' sporting skills will be put to good use while catching the Big Bad. Oh Jung-se is becoming a good villain. 😅🙃🤣 Looking forward to see this strong ensemble cast.

Interesting ragtag team! I wonder how much we will see of their past sports life vs their current cop situations.

I’m expecting each episode to be about 70-80 minutes in length so we should get a full meal with their past and present selves. I’ll admit I’m excited for their athlete days and it brings a fresh perspective to the ragtag cop team trope.

I absolutely love this cast, and if this drama is even half as good as this cast is, it'll still be a hit. Please don't disappoint!
