Won Ji-ahn is Waiting for Gyung-do Park Seo-joon

Making headway on preparations for the new series Waiting for Gyung-do, JTBC has announced the rom-com’s main cast, pairing Park Seo-joon (Gyeongseong Creature 2) and Won Ji-ahn (Squid Game 2) to give love another chance, yet again.

As it turns out, our protagonists Lee Gyung-do (Park Seo-joon) and Seo Ji-woo (Won Ji-ahn) have already dated and broken up twice. First at the young age of 20 when they met through their college theater club and a second time eight years later at the age of 28. Life has since moved on and Ji-woo married someone else. However, as they say, third time’s the charm and, now in their 30s, fate swirls up another reunion for our pair.

When we meet our characters in present time, Ji-woo is known to be a troublemaker celeb and Gyung-do is working as an entertainment reporter. He then uncovers a cheating scandal, nabbing a gossip-worthy scoop. But the cheater in question just so happens to be his first love and ex-girlfriend Ji-woo’s husband. And, on her part, Ji-woo isn’t exactly thrilled to meet Gyung-do again during her life’s worst moments – though she does of course sign the papers for divorce.

Thankfully, the stormy Ji-woo can always rely on her doting older sister Lee El (When the Stars Gossip), in the role of Seo Ji-yeon. Calm and collected, with brains and beauty to boot, Ji-yeon is the CEO of their family’s apparel company and is fiercely protective of her younger sister Ji-woo.

In supportive roles, Gyung-do and Ji-woo’s main friend group is rounded out by others from their old college club with art academy director Lee Joo-young (The 8 Show) as the club’s anchor. She’s married to fellow club member and struggling actor Kang Ki-doong (Crash), who is wholeheartedly supported by his wife to follow his passion and dreams. As the glue holding our theater-loving friends together, we have used car dealership owner Jo Min-gook (Melo Movie) as well.

Directed by PD Im Hyung-wook (King the Land) with Yoo Young-ah (Divorce Attorney Shin) penning the scripts, production for JTBC’s Waiting for Gyung-do is currently in filming.

I’m looking forward to this. I like the idea of the friend group and I’m always here for a secondthird-chance-romance.

I just want to emphasize to everyone involved in production that this is a romantic comedy which I mean in a very Shakespearian sense - there had better not be any deaths of main characters at the end of this. You can’t do that to Won Ji-ahn again.

Exactly, it would be good to have something with the level of humour of No gain, no love without a murderer or death in another form lurking in the background.

Shouldn't be in Samuel Beckett-ian sense? :P

I’m actually hoping they stay as for away from him plot- and tone-wise as possible 😅

Referencing the play as part of their theatre group? I’ll allow it 😂

Let's hope not. It wouldn't be much of a show if we waited for Gyeong-Do and he never showed up.

So with you on this one. I still cannot believe what they did to her there.

I am hooked, but I hope the writer and the director will not disappoint.

Heh, second chance love is quite the flavor of the season, isn't it. 😂 Guess the third time is the charm.

Park Seo-joon in a rom-com seems to have an different aura. I already really looking forward to this one.🫰

It looks funnier than the real drama The Third Charm (that I really liked but was pretty heavy at the end).

I liked The Third Charm too. 😊 The premise for this seems different apart from the meeting at different stages of life. I hope the treatment for this is lighter and we get lot of fun scenes along with the ensemble cast.

I adore Won Ji Ahn, but she is very young for this.

Yikes! She's nearly 11 years younger than PSJ! According to the synopsis, their characters are supposed to be roughly the same age. I find it hard to believe the producers couldn't find a more age-appropriate actress for the role.

Ohh yayy Park Seo-joon!!
I couldn't get through the first episode of Gyeongseong Creature but this, hopefully!

I'd wait for him. I don't like such long time gaps between the chances but I'm in it for the actors.
