Park Hae-soo and Shin Mina are struck by bad Karma

Six ill-omened fates intertwine in Netflix’s latest teaser for upcoming crime-thriller Karma. Starring Park Hae-soo (Narco-Saints) as “The Witness,” Shin Mina (No Gain No Love) as Joo-yeon, Lee Hee-joon (Blood Free) as “The Loan Shark,” Kim Sung-kyun (The Fiery Priest 2) as Gil-ryong, Lee Kwang-soo (No Way Out – The Roulette) as “The Glasses Man,” and Gong Seung-yeon (The First Responders 2) as Yoo-jung, these six individuals get entangled in a mess with no beginning or end in sight.

The teaser opens with a shot of each character in turn as the loan shark states, “This is where we put an end to this fxcked-up bond of ours.” A quick sequence of events flashes on screen as we get a glimpse at their “inescapable fate.” A forensic investigator takes a photo of a crime scene, someone hits another person with their car, and the glasses man swings around a golf club as someone flinches inside a trunk. It is unclear what exactly happened, but one thing is for sure: things have gotten complicated.

As Joo-yeon stares off-camera, she tells someone that they have to die for this to end. As the teaser cuts to the other characters, we see them dealing with this turmoil – the evil festering within each of them – and a raging fire engulfs a building. The teaser then closes with Joo-yeon sitting in what seems to be a chapel, and another figure pulls out a scalpel and says to just think of it as “bad karma.”

Past traumas, selfish decisions, and unbridled desires compound foolish mistakes into irrevocable sins in this webtoon adaptation about six people and the red string of fate that seems to tie them all together. With filmmaker Lee Il-Hyeong (Remember, A Violent Prosecutor) making his drama series debut as both writer and director, Karma is slated for six episodes and premieres April 4 on Netflix.
