Drama viewership ratings for the week of March 10-16, 2025
by tccolb
T’was a whimpering exit for Kick Kick Kick Kick, while The Witch went out on a pretty strong note for Channel A. Sadly, Undercover High School remains tipping downwards. But it was a good week for most of our shows with Mother and Mom, Buried Hearts, The Art of Negotiation, and For Eagle Brothers (20%!) all on the rise.

[Drama Chat] Which drama should have never been made?
When the Stars Gossip
Kick Kick Kick Kick - What was KBS thinking making this show? It's become the lowest-rated network drama in Korean television history. Lee Kyu-hyung's character was pathetic, but THE most annoying character was Noh In-sung. I actually loved the romance between PD Tae-ho and Scriptwriter Wang, but they could've put them in an office romance drama where she acts like a NORMAL person. As for our love triangle, I was team friends-to-lovers, but sadly, the show was team enemies-to-lovers.

The art of negotiation is doing well in the ratings! Here’s hoping they continue to reign in the music by keeping it instrumental so we have an easier job tuning it out. I am still enjoying the show.

JTBC should keep the Sat/Sun timeslot for its main show. NEGOTIATION wouldn't have done well in ratings on a Fri/Sat slot.

My observation/conclusion is that the ratings challenge for a number of dramas (with the exception of SBS’s BURIED HEARTS and the weekender FOR EAGLE BROTHER) is Saturday. F/S and S/S dramas seem to have better ratings on the non Saturday airing.
For example: Channel A’s THE WITCH (Viki US). I enjoyed this drama and performances.
For 10 episodes THE WITCH’s average rating was 2.258%. The Sunday’s average rating was almost 3%.

Undercover High School is a delight. Why is it trending down?

Because of competition on Saturday from SBS and JTBC. tvN airs one hour earlier (not that The Potato Lab is competition anyway). If it makes you feel better, Undercover High School and Seo Kang-joon are winning the Good Data buzzworthy rankings. https://www.fundex.co.kr/

What a cool link. Thanks! (Though I’m too lazy about checking its methodology esp. since I should technically be working 😬) Tangerines seems to be blowing away the competition! I wonder if good data is available on OTTs, then DB would consider publishing so we get a better picture. Though I’m sure OTT reporting has its challenges.

Our Weekender is doing well. IRON FAMILY never hit 20% even though it was dramatically better. The difference is that EAGLE BROTHERS is a more normally paced weekender story that is largely told well, as opposed to thirty-six episodes of a headlong rush. If they want ratings to go higher though I think we will need less Zumba Brother and more Hani.

Iron Family was special (I still miss it)... and should be longer... (and it would then break 20% as well)

Me too. Happy BH is doing very well in ratings and in OTT despite the abysmal promotion by both Disney/Hulu and Wavve.
I’ve been enjoying discussions on another site as well. The theories and speculations are so much fun.
