Park Hyung-shik is out for blood in Buried Hearts

It’s kill or be killed in SBS’s crime-thriller Buried Hearts as hell-bent Park Hyung-shik (Doctor Slump) comes head to head with kingmaker Heo Jun-ho (Bloodhounds). Money, power, and all of life’s desires are on the line as these two men risk everything in this battle to control Daesan conglomerate, and their fight will not end until the other is six feet under.

Opening the teaser with a narration from Seo Dong-joo (Park Hyung-shik), our ambitious hero warns his opponents that if they wish to live, then they need to leave Daesan. Dong-joo’s cocky attitude irks Yeom Jang-sun (Heo Jun-ho) who wants nothing more than to get rid of him, but it will not be an easy task as Dong-joo mockingly tells Jang-sun to get it together.

Though his opponents have tried to murder Dong-joo before from strangulation to blunt force trauma, our hero lives, leaving the baddies in trouble. Jang-sun makes it clear to his co-conspirators that their failure to kill one rat has created this predicament, and Daesan’s son-in-law Lee Hae-young (Unmasked) seems caught in this deathly game of power.

However, not everyone wants Dong-joo dead since Daesan’s granddaughter Yeo Eun-nam – played by Hong Hwa-yeon (Bora! Deborah) – once dated our hero and may be waiting to return to his side. Unfortunately, Dong-joo pushes her away, saying that good things rarely happened when they were together.

Complicating matters is Eun-nam’s mother and firstborn daughter of Daesan chairman Kim Jung-nan (Serendipity’s Embrace) who is firmly against Dong-joo. She threatens to make one of his allies disappear, and it’s unclear if even family is safe from her list of targets. As the fight drags on, Jang-sun tells Dong-joo that if he keeps struggling to live, then he will experience hell, but Dong-joo throws out a threat of his own, “Do you want to die quickly?”

Alongside the new teaser, SBS released a batch of character posters for the main quartet looking grim and menacing. Dong-joo’s poster reads, “I will open my own future. The chairman of Daesan Chemistry. That is my first future.” As for the antagonists, Jang-sun’s is, “No matter, they are just goldfish who eagerly stick out their mouths to eat the food I give them” and Heo Il-do’s (Lee Hae-young) says, “If I repent, then I have to give up what I have. I didn’t want to give it up.” Last but not least, Eun-nam’s poster reads, “I don’t need love in this marriage.”

Written by Lee Myung-hee (Money Flower) with PD Jin Chang-kyu (Military Prosecutor Doberman) at the helm, SBS’s Buried Hearts is slated for sixteen episodes and premieres February 21 in the Friday-Saturday slot.

I hope this show is as dark and vibey as the posters. Loving the deranged grin on PHS in the first picture and excited to see more!

I really liked this screenwriters drama "Money Flower" (2017).
"Buried Hearts" will be a 'sit on the edge of your seat' kinda show for me.

Teasers on Youtube show this airing on Disney + in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
And a site called OTT Play (don't know if this is a legitimate source of information) claims Viki will have "Buried Hearts".
Only 10 days until premiere. If I see it on Viki I'll post it here.

Can’t wait. It does look dark and tense but I am seated. I know DisneyPlus has been advertising for many of the Asian countries but not in the US. If it’s Viki then I don’t have to shell out anymore money! Crossing fingers.
